Juice=Juice vs. =LOVE: Fan Wars Erupt Over Whose Fandom Has the Worse Manners

From our other sites

The story

A thread titled “On the Poor Manners of =LOVE Fans, as Seen on Social Media” went up on the Hello! Project board, spotlighting how fans of =LOVE and Juice=Juice have been trading jabs at each other’s behavior on X (formerly Twitter). It reportedly kicked off when =LOVE fans were called out for bashing Juice=Juice’s looks by comparing them to Nogizaka46, and the discussion spread from there to cover the differing fan cultures of the two groups — and the fact that =LOVE’s producer, Sashihara, is herself a massive Hello! Project fan. The thread also touched on the general theory that “friction flares up whenever a fandom gains new members fast,” plus posts complaining about spot-hogging at live venues, with opinions split over whether both fan bases are equally guilty.

Not so bad, is it? lol
2AnonymousOct 29, 2026 18:51
It's not even showing up on my X feed, so I wouldn't know
That's just what happens anywhere that blows up fast
Even with Hello! Project fans
4AnonymousOct 29, 2026 18:53
They're constantly feuding with old-school Sakamichi fans too ("furuppa" — longtime Nogizaka/Sakurazaka fans)
5AnonymousOct 29, 2026 18:54
I cracked up that they dragged Nogizaka into it just to trash Juice's looks, lol
59AnonymousOct 29, 2026 20:40
Re: #5
Juice's visuals beat Sakamichi's anyway
7AnonymousOct 29, 2026 18:55
Bet the "Juicer" crowd (Juice=Juice fans) started it themselves
10AnonymousOct 29, 2026 18:56
Re: #7
Aren't you the anti who's always grumbling about Juice on X?
8AnonymousOct 29, 2026 18:56
Any handshake-event group ends up with its share of unhinged fans
Hello! Project has them too, but the Sashihara groups and Sakamichi groups are on a whole different level for sheer numbers of unhinged fans
9AnonymousOct 29, 2026 18:56
But yeah, the fact that Sashihara is herself such a huge Hello! Project fan
must put her in a real bind, I'd imagine
the part where our "goddess" is so heavily shaped by Hello! Project…
well, if we're going there, Tsunku♂ was shaped by Onyanko Club too
12AnonymousOct 29, 2026 18:57
I saw =LOVE fans calling the furuppa (veteran Sakamichi fans) "old hags" and almost called them out on it, but I'm an adult, so I let it go
31AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:19
Re: #12
That's kind of funny
13AnonymousOct 29, 2026 18:58
More new fans join → fight breaks out
No new fans join → dead calm
15AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:02
=LOVE fans can't out-sing Juice on the live vocals they're so proud of, and looks-wise there's already Itomomo and the Sakamichi groups, so maybe they're out of ammo — all they've got left is some vague flexing
26AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:17
Re: #15
Idiot, lol. The fight inside =LOVE's fandom is new fans vs. old-school fans
16AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:03
I'm an adult too, so even when I know the backstory on stuff, I never bring it up
because it'd only make people feel bad
in that case, just vaguely saying "great job!" causes zero problems
18AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:06
Bet they don't want to hear that from Hello! Project fans of all people
19AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:07
That's exactly the dilemma — Sashihara herself being a Hello! Project fan…
20AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:07
When you put it that way, Hello! Project fans have really good manners
22AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:08
If anyone's going to go off the rails, K-pop fandoms are the scariest by far
27AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:17
Well, looks are a matter of taste, so that part's fine
but it's rough how nasty tweets like that rack up likes
if we're talking bad looks, producer Sashihara herself is no slouch either
29AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:18
It's not showing up on my feed at all
For some reason my "For You" is just endless quote-RTs of Johnny's fans and Milk fans fighting, it's getting old
30AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:18
They say if you stand out, idiots come find you — guess this is that
32AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:19
I don't know what kind of producing she's actually doing, but if Sashihara's love-hate feelings about Hello! Project are being projected onto it, that'd be pretty interesting
35AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:21
Guess fans get rowdy once a group actually sells, so unpopular, non-selling Hello! Project stays nice and peaceful
38AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:27
@qi3zVBtDsK72236
The whole queueing system was broken from the start — people who showed up that morning joined the group and still got the very front spot (a cluster of just over ten people in the end). They sprawled out starfish-style to hold the front row, wore earphones in both ears during the show, and were on their phones — absolutely terrible manners. So this is the kind of fan Juice=Juice has. The worst.

@Pj5yq
It's sickening that Juice=Juice fans are piling on someone who was just an ordinary person until yesterday
Because of this person, I'm now under the impression that Juice=Juice fans have the worst manners
40AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:29
The =LOVE scene on X casually posts the kind of morally bankrupt stuff we'd only dare write on "Ookami" (a notorious anonymous idol-gossip board)
41AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:30
My impression is that =LOVE fans come pick fights with you even when you've said nothing about them at all
44AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:32
Re: #41
That's because they've got no confidence and no money either
well, no confidence is basically why anyone becomes an idol fan in the first place
42AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:30
@6dunm16Ecwj4kke
Seeing people go on about Juice=Juice's "front-row gatekeeping" made me laugh
Honestly, their manners weren't great even back in the day. Back in the live-house era, during "Jyoro" (watering-can chant, a pun on "juice"), there were fans doing the Maasai jump-dance with toy elephant watering cans on their heads, looking like comedian Lucky Ikeda. So, yeah.
45AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:33
@mhyk_noscommune
I used to think Juice fans had decent manners, but I guess this is really how it is. Kind of disappointing
It's sad they can't get through life without putting down other idols
And it's sad for the idols being supported by people like this too
47AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:36
Well, Sashihara's army doesn't have the talent, so I guess it can't be helped
And to begin with, Sashihara herself is a Hello! Project fan 😂
52AnonymousOct 29, 2026 19:43
They've played the National Stadium and still somehow have zero confidence
Deep down even the "Ikokasu" crowd (a derogatory nickname for =LOVE fans) know it
that they're fakes
60AnonymousOct 29, 2026 20:41
Re: #52
=LOVE was the first female idol group of the Reiwa era to play the New National Stadium, so I wish they'd have more confidence
since there's no female idol group in Japan better than =LOVE anyway

Background and Key Points

Idol fans trading accusations about each other’s “manners” on social media is a recurring phenomenon in handshake-event-style idol culture, not a conflict unique to =LOVE and Juice=Juice. The pattern flagged in the thread — that friction tends to flare up whenever a fandom gains new members quickly — is also a commonly observed trend whenever any fanbase expands fast. Worth noting: everything in the thread is built from individual posts pulled and quoted off X, and there’s no statistical evidence showing what either fanbase as a whole is actually like. Treating a handful of conspicuous posts or behaviors as representative of an entire fan community is a common source of misunderstanding in discussions like this one.
