Seiya: Seeing a Celebrity Chow Down on a Big Mac on the Bullet Train “Raised My Opinion of Them”

Seiya of the comedy duo Shimofuri Myojo shared a story on the show “Ariyoshi Quiz” about spotting an elderly celebrity happily chomping down on a Big Mac on the bullet train, saying it raised his opinion of the star. On 5ch, the story sparked a mix of warm reactions (“even a rich person being down-to-earth is relatable”), a side debate about whether it’s okay to eat fast food on the Shinkansen, and a flurry of guesses about who the celebrity actually was.

Seiya explains why seeing a certain celebrity on the bullet train “raised my opinion of them” — “Even someone with that much money…”

Seiya (33), of the comedy duo Shimofuri Myojo, appeared on TV Asahi’s “Ariyoshi Quiz” (aired late night on the 23rd at 0:55). He talked about why seeing a certain celebrity on the bullet train boosted his opinion of them.

This episode’s theme was “Aim for 100: Celebrity Sightings Around Town,” a segment where guests try to name a combined total of 100 celebrities they’ve spotted in their private lives.

Wasn't this guy supposed to not care about food?

A Big Mac? That's what passes for rich-people flexing now? Kind of obnoxious.

McDonald's sells well worldwide because it's genuinely tasty, plain and simple.

More reliably tasty than most ekiben (train bento) or local specialty snacks, honestly.
Even if some ekiben stand had the ability to sell as many boxes at the same price as a Big Mac,
I'd bet it'd flop because the food just isn't as good.

Not biting.

Your opinion of rich people goes up over THAT?
Your idea of what makes someone classy is way too low.

McDonald's smells about as strong as curry, though.

Why's McDonald's fine but pork buns aren't?
15Anonymous2026/08/24(月) 19:45:29.76ID:kwRvfobr0
Nobody wants to watch some old man eat that messily anyway.

Don't you know both 551 Horai (the famous Osaka pork bun chain) and McDonald's are banned from being brought on board?

Show me exactly where it says that in the terms of carriage.

He's plenty rich himself — kind of catty of him to bring this up.

His son Mikiya loves McDonald's too lol

He rinsed off some super-spicy cup yakisoba with water off-camera, then flashed a smile like "Easy, no problem!" for the camera (´・ω・`)

A thread full of poor souls who can't even afford a Big Mac

Dr. Takasu is all over the place when it comes to food — he'll turn high-end sushi into ochazuke (tea-soaked rice) and stuff.

Checked Shimofuri-Tube for the first time in a while and it's just stopped updating. Did something happen?

During Barcelona's title parade, Messi and Neymar slipped off the bus, ran into a McDonald's, bought a huge stack of burgers, and came back — the other players loved it.
Even rich guys have pretty ordinary taste in food, same as the rest of us.

Same with Bill Gates — dude's loaded and still eats McDonald's all the time.
27Anonymous2026/08/24(月) 19:55:46.68ID:g9cKj+zF0
Bet the smell was intense.
Ate it in a car once and it was rough.
28Anonymous2026/08/24(月) 19:56:42.70ID:ouBeeYlJ0
What you should actually be impressed by is that he can still put away a McDonald's meal at that age.
29Anonymous2026/08/24(月) 19:56:48.89ID:JRYRlh6p0
For Dr. Takasu, it's probably just "whatever I can eat fastest" — nothing more to it.
32Anonymous2026/08/24(月) 19:58:21.91ID:mv9TsBLM0
If you're hungry it tastes good, obviously.
Being rich has nothing to do with it — junk food is just straightforwardly delicious.
34Anonymous2026/08/24(月) 19:58:39.94ID:iuH2tuFO0
Enjoy it while it lasts — rich people ride in private compartments, they don't even bother with the Green Car.
40Anonymous2026/08/24(月) 20:04:23.78ID:lFyhnEUY0
Seiya's clearly baiting a debate about whether it's okay to eat McDonald's on the bullet train.
41Anonymous2026/08/24(月) 20:05:12.62ID:yFSzHYaK0
The guy's over 80, lol.
THAT's what you should be impressed by.
44Anonymous2026/08/24(月) 20:11:14.10ID:urzH1kx/0
The only thing at McDonald's worth ordering is the iced coffee.
64Anonymous2026/08/24(月) 20:43:34.63ID:7KFDrUEA0
Judging by Dr. Takasu's gross-food videos, I bet he squashed that Big Mac flat like a dorayaki and just wolfed it down.

Heard that's not actually unusual in the US — something about prioritizing the bite/texture.

Holding a discount coupon, no less.
And when it's finally his turn, they refuse to let him use it (because he's a billionaire), and he sadly tucks it back into his wallet.
