  • Announcer Noriko Fukuda’s Stroller Complaint — 5ch: “Elevators Are Priority, Not Exclusive”

Noriko Fukuda, a former TV Tokyo announcer now working as a freelancer, revealed on October 4 that she had an unpleasant experience while riding an elevator with a stroller carrying her 4-year-old son. The elevator was already crowded with two strollers when a woman believed to be in her twenties reportedly squeezed in, and Fukuda said she shielded her child with her hand. On 5ch, opinions clashed between those arguing “elevators should give priority to strollers” and those countering “priority doesn’t mean exclusive use” or “she might have had an invisible disability.” The debate also spread to how low a child’s eye level is and when kids should stop using strollers.

Former TV Tokyo announcer-turned-freelancer Noriko Fukuda revealed on the 4th that she had an unpleasant experience while riding an elevator with a stroller.

Fukuda worked at RKB Mainichi Broadcasting before joining TV Tokyo in 2016 as a mid-career hire. She served as the third assistant on “Moyamoya Samazu 2.” In March 2021 she married a company employee, and that December gave birth to her first child, a son (now 4). She left TV Tokyo at the end of March 2024. That April she joined a general company, working in PR and emceeing events, but in March 2025 she announced both her resignation and her divorce via a weekly magazine.

We don't need "self-proclaimed parents" chiming in here. Even people with kids can be oblivious — I've seen parents let their kid's dangling legs swing right next to someone holding a bakery tray, ignore it when their kid's shoe sole dirtied the sleeve of the person sitting next to them, or play dumb when their stroller wheel scuffed up a seated man's shoes.
    19AnonymousOct 4, 2026 15:34
No no, you're the one with the stroller — you should apologize. If the kid's 4, you could've folded the stroller and carried them.

I don't get what "a stroller still in active use" is supposed to mean, and how do you end up with two strollers when there's only one 4-year-old? Is the writer just bad at explaining, or is this something they're not supposed to get into?

    Re: #105
This would be a civil matter. And with the other party being a woman in her 20s, it's unlikely to even be treated as a criminal case. Even if you sue, if she doesn't pay up there's nothing more you can do.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Even when commercial facilities put up “stroller priority” stickers on their elevators, that’s not a legally designated exclusive space — it’s merely a courtesy request from the operator. That leaves the line blurry as to whether a new passenger should board or step aside when an elevator is already full with two strollers, and the thread split between “priority obviously means priority” and “priority doesn’t mean exclusive.” Some pointed out the woman might have had an invisible disability, a reminder that circumstances can’t always be judged by appearance alone. The original article was also unclear about how two strollers related to a single 4-year-old, prompting several replies in the thread trying to piece together what actually happened. While some called for legal action over the alleged slap to the child’s cheek, there’s no way to confirm the specifics or whether any diagnosis was made beyond Fukuda’s own account, so this isn’t something that lets us definitively say who was at fault.

*This article is compiled as an excerpt and summary of the 5ch (Geisoku Sokuhō+) thread “4-year-old’s mom, announcer Noriko Fukuda, rides elevator with stroller → lectures woman in her 20s as “way too thoughtless,” “shouldn’t you at least apologize?”“

  • YouTube Issues “Final Warning” to Ad-Block Users: Report Says Access Will Be Banned

Reports that YouTube plans to dramatically ramp up its crackdown on ad-blocker users sparked a reaction thread on 5ch’s “Nandemo Jikkyo G” board. Most replies piled on about the quality of the ads themselves — “the ads are way too long,” “it’s nothing but scam-like garbage” — with some users considering browser-wide blockers or switching to Premium. Others pushed back with “it’s the freeloaders’ own fault,” reviving the age-old standoff: put up with ads, or pay up.

YouTube Issues “Final Notice” to Ad-Blocker Users, Set to Massively Ramp Up Countermeasures

It has emerged that YouTube has decided to significantly strengthen its measures against users who watch videos with ad blockers enabled.

According to sources, YouTube’s internal teams have grown concerned that the spread of ad-blocker use is eating into ad revenue, and have concluded that warning messages alone provide “insufficient deterrent effect.” Going forward, the company reportedly plans to roll out, in phases, a system that restricts video playback itself whenever it detects an extension interfering with ad loading.

Also, the ads you get change based on the type of videos you watch.
Get flagged as "low-tier" and it's nothing but low-tier ads; get flagged as "upscale" and you get upscale-targeted ads.
Back in the day even random channels would get big-name ads, but once major brands started objecting to showing up next to controversy-bait content, YouTube started properly controlling that targeting.

Background and Key Points of This Debate

YouTube has been gradually escalating warning displays for ad-blocker users since around 2023, and the “final warning” reported here looks like an extension of that trend. The thread split along two lines: frustration at the ads themselves, and frustration at people who refuse to pay. The majority view slammed long-form ads and scam-like ad content, while a sizable contingent — generally siding with Premium subscribers — argued “it’s the freeloaders’ own fault.” Some also pointed out that ad quality differs between phone and TV, apparently because YouTube varies which ads it serves depending on the viewing environment and assumed audience, though the thread reached no firm consensus on this. Worth noting: as of this writing there’s no official confirmation of exactly how far “banned from access” would actually be applied.

A 19-year-old developmental-contract left-handed pitcher clocked 150 km/h (about 93 mph), striking out a 25-year-old player who was taken in the second round of the draft — sparking reactions like “He throws better than Matagi!” and “A 25-year-old 2nd-round pick just struck out against a 19-year-old developmental player lol.” Meanwhile, posters lamented the Giants’ struggles to develop young talent, while others praised the depth of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters’ pitching pipeline, making differences in each team’s player development a central topic of the thread. A chart tracking the Central League’s last-place race was also shared, extending the discussion to the Yakult Swallows’ situation.

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

The farm system (minor leagues) is mainly where players in their early twenties gain game experience, serving as a stepping stone to the top team. The moment that drew attention in the thread — a 19-year-old developmental-contract pitcher striking out a 25-year-old second-round draft pick — stood out as an episode highlighting the gap in status between “ikusei” (developmental, non-roster) players and fully contracted players. That said, good performance in the farm league doesn’t automatically guarantee success in the top team; as one poster in the thread pointed out, “he’s only bad once he moves up to the majors,” so it’s worth remembering that differences in the level of competition can heavily affect results. While some voiced doubts about the Giants’ ability to develop young talent, the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters were said to have several pitchers already established on the top team, making differences in player-development systems between clubs an easy point of comparison.

  • Mie Prefecture’s Population Drops by 77,000 as Foreign Residents Hit Record High — 5ch: ‘Immigrant Rate Is 4%? Not as High as I Thought’

According to finalized figures from the 2025 national census released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Mie Prefecture’s total population stood at 1,693,200, down 4.4%—about 77,000 people—from the previous 2020 census. This marks the fourth consecutive decline since the population peaked in 2005, with only two municipalities, Asahi and Kawagoe, seeing population growth. Meanwhile, the number of foreign residents hit a record high, with Vietnamese nationals standing out among the various nationalities. On 5ch, threads mixed voices linking the rise in foreign residents to debates over immigration policy with others pointing out that Mie’s actual foreign resident ratio is only around 4%—”not as high as I expected”—and the discussion spread to population trends and local topics in other prefectures.

Finalized figures from last year’s national census have been released, showing that Mie Prefecture’s population declined compared to the previous census six years earlier, while the number of foreign residents living in the prefecture reached a record high.

According to the finalized census figures released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Mie Prefecture’s total population as of October 1 last year was approximately 1,693,200, down 4.4%—about 77,000 people—from the 2020 census, marking the fourth consecutive decline since the population peaked in the 2005 census.

By municipality, only Asahi and Kawagoe towns saw population increases compared to the previous census, while the remaining 27 municipalities in the prefecture saw declines.

According to the population dynamics survey based on the Basic Resident Register (as of January 1, 2026) released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on the 29th,
Osaka Prefecture's total population, including foreign residents, grew for the first time in 6 years.

This was largely driven by a roughly 10,000-person increase in the net inflow of foreign residents (social increase) compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, the natural population decrease (deaths exceeding births) was the largest in the country, reinforcing a structure where social increase is propping up the numbers.
Osaka Prefecture's total population rose by 3,365 from the previous year to 8,775,326—its first increase since 2020.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Mie Prefecture’s population figures are based on the finalized national census results, which are more accurate than preliminary figures. The rise in foreign residents seen here isn’t unique to Mie—it overlaps with a nationwide trend of the Japanese population shrinking while the foreign population grows. Some thread comments expressed alarm about being ‘taken over,’ while others pointed out that the actual foreign resident ratio is only around 4%, making the gap between perception and reality a key point of debate. On what’s driving the population decline, some comments argued that the structural problem of young people leaving for urban areas is a bigger factor than changes in the foreign population. The article’s figure of roughly 14,000 Vietnamese nationals stands out, but the article doesn’t clarify what share that represents of the prefecture’s total foreign population or how it compares to other nationalities. Some comments also linked specific nationalities to crime, but no supporting statistics were presented, so it’s worth noting these claims are impressionistic rather than substantiated.

  • Your Balls Absorb Toner 7x Better Than Your Face? 5ch Debates Whether to Actually Care for Them

A thread on 5ch’s “Nandemo Jikkyo G” board blew up over the claim that the skin on your scrotum absorbs toner seven times better than your face. Transdermal absorption rates vary wildly by body part, and the scrotum — known for its thin skin — has long been recognized in pharmaceutical research as a high-absorption site. Posters split over whether the “7x” figure actually applied to cosmetic toner or to drug-absorption studies, with some regretting years of skipped skincare, others debating just how far scrotal moisturizing should go, and the thread eventually derailing into speculation about rubbing minoxidil on your balls.

    Re: #72
It gets sweaty down there a lot, so it probably also has a cooling function via evaporation

Background and Key Points of the Debate

Dermatology has long recognized that transdermal absorption rates vary dramatically by body part, and because the scrotum has a notably thin stratum corneum, older pharmaceutical and hormone-drug research has shown it to be a site of unusually high absorption. The “7 times the face” figure that spread through the thread appears to trace back to drug-absorption studies rather than any test of cosmetic toner’s moisturizing effect, meaning it isn’t actually a number that guarantees toner itself works any better there. Posters disagreed over whether the figure was really about medication or about cosmetics, pitting those enthusiastic about scrotal moisturizing against those who found the whole idea instinctively off-putting. One point the thread never addressed: if you actually try this, you’d need to avoid harsh or irritating ingredients — a different consideration than ordinary skincare.

※This article is compiled and summarized from the 5ch (“Nandemo Jikkyo G”) thread “[Tragic News] Dick absorbs toner 7x better than face. Everyone who’s been skipping care is doomed…“.

  • Is Sex a Marital Duty in Marriage? What If You Say ‘I Don’t Want To’? A Legal Scholar Weighs In

Japan’s Civil Code spells out a married couple’s duties to live together, cooperate, and support one another, but it says nothing about sex. Even so, past court rulings have treated a spouse’s lack of sex as “grounds that make it difficult to continue the marriage,” justifying divorce — meaning legal scholars and judges alike have long operated on the premise that “married couples are supposed to have sex,” according to Risa Oshima, a professor at Aoyama Gakuin University, whose remarks have sparked debate. On 5ch, reactions ranged widely: some argued that if sex is a “duty,” then affairs or sex work should be tolerated in exchange; others pointed out that continued refusal can become grounds for divorce; still others questioned the very necessity of the institution of marriage.

People often say they can’t refuse sex with their spouse because “it’s a marital duty.” But is there actually a legal duty for married couples to have sex? We asked Professor Risa Oshima of Aoyama Gakuin University, an expert in family law.

The Civil Code states that married couples have duties to live together, cooperate, and support one another, but there’s no provision about sex. That said, this hasn’t been enough to conclude there’s no duty to have sex — because, although rare, there have been court rulings granting divorce on the grounds that a lack of sex with one’s spouse amounts to “grounds that make it difficult to continue the marriage.”

The Civil Code is written in deliberately abstract terms so judges can apply it flexibly. In practice, rulings have been shaped by the prevailing social norms surrounding marriage at the time. Up to now, both legal scholars and judges have operated on the assumption that “married couples are supposed to have sex,” and most past court rulings have been grounded in that assumption.

    Re: #119
An affair gets legally messy, so sex work's the way to go.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The Civil Code’s duties for married couples — to live together, cooperate, and support one another — contain no provision on sex. In the end, courts have simply applied the abstract clause “grounds that make it difficult to continue the marriage,” interpreted according to the prevailing social norms of each era. In other words, the presence or absence of sex alone doesn’t automatically grant a divorce; the full circumstances of the relationship are weighed. In the thread, two camps clashed — those arguing that if sex is a “duty” then affairs or sex work should be permitted, and those saying “if you don’t like it, just get divorced” — but both sides treat the duty as a kind of transactional exchange, which misses the article’s actual point about shifting social norms. It’s also a common misunderstanding that only the refusing spouse is automatically at fault; the outcome depends on the specific circumstances.

  • Does K-pop Have a Universally Known Classic? 5ch Debates

The thread’s original poster argued that “K-pop never managed to produce a truly universal, hum-along classic like ‘Gangnam Style.’” Some pushed back, pointing to BTS’s “Dynamite” and ROSÉ & Bruno Mars’s “APT.” as proof of plenty of reach, while others cited how songs by Miyuki Nakajima and Shinji Tanimura are known across generations in the Chinese-speaking world, arguing K-pop still has no equivalent. The discussion rolled on without ever sorting out that “global smash hit,” “name recognition in Japan,” and “cross-generational reach” are three different yardsticks.

    124AnonymousOct 4, 2026 15:41
    Re: #112
There's not really much from just the last decade or so that gets listened to across generations anyway. It'll only happen decades from now, once today's young people are old and their kids start listening to the "old songs" — that's how a handful of cross-generational songs will finally emerge. Today's 60- and 70-somethings aren't exactly listening to Mrs. GREEN APPLE or YOASOBI

Background and Key Points of the Debate

The core of this thread’s conflict came down to people using different definitions of “classic.” “Gangnam Style” set a singular, record-breaking global streaming milestone back in 2012, and some posters wanted that same scale of reach, while others argued that songs like BTS’s “Dynamite” and “Butter,” or ROSÉ & Bruno Mars’s “APT.,” are plenty widespread within their generation. The reception of Miyuki Nakajima and Shinji Tanimura in the Chinese-speaking world is also rooted in anecdotes about their songs spreading through unauthorized covers rather than under their own names — a different context from official popularity surveys, and another reason the discussion kept talking past itself. On top of that, “KPOP Demon Hunters,” which came up in the thread, is a Netflix animated film made in the US, a separate venture from Korea’s own revenue structure — a distinction that never got sorted out before being folded into the argument.

  • Hello! Project Graduates’ Second Careers — Are Tsuji and Fujimoto the Only Success Stories?

A discussion broke out on 5ch about what happens to members after they graduate from Hello! Project. It started with a post saying, “I wish we could do something about this hopeless trend where graduating feels like the end of the road,” which sparked a wave of replies pointing out that only a handful of members from certain generations — like Tsuji Nozomi, Fujimoto Miki, and Suzuki Airi — have managed to keep working in entertainment. The thread split between a structural view that “if you weren’t popular as an idol, switching careers won’t make you popular either,” and the opinion that “it’s fine to just live a normal life after graduating.”

That's basically like winning the lottery jackpot ten times in a row — the odds are absurd.

Background and key points of this discussion

Tsuji Nozomi and Fujimoto Miki debuted with Morning Musume and belong to a generation that even performed at Kohaku, NHK’s year-end song special, continuing to appear in variety shows and photo books after graduating. Generations from Juice=Juice and Angerme onward, by contrast, have centered their activity on fan-club-oriented shows, a structure the thread pointed to as making it harder to reach general-audience recognition. Opinions split between the view that it’s fine to “just live a normal life” after graduating, and the view that a lack of second-career success makes the group look hopeless — with an underlying assumption surfacing that “those who weren’t popular during their idol years won’t become popular after switching careers” either. Note: some posts touching on personal lives or appearances amounted to baseless speculation or personal attacks, so the article has omitted them.

  • AKB48’s Momoka Ito Locked In for Third Straight Center Spot — First Since Maeda Atsuko, 16 Years Ago

AKB48’s 69th single (releasing February 24, 2027) will feature Momoka Ito as center for a third consecutive release. This marks the first time anyone has served as sole center for three straight singles since Maeda Atsuko did it roughly 16 years ago — and even her predecessor’s two-in-a-row streak was itself the first since Watanabe Mayu (“Mayuyu”) 14 years prior. Newcomers Narita Kahina and Morikawa Yu made their first-ever senbatsu (selected main-lineup) appearances. On the forum, many posts praised Ito’s individual momentum, while others pushed back, arguing “there’s no one drawing attention besides Ito” and “what’s even the point of being a group,” pointing to thin depth across the rest of the lineup. Reactions were split.

    Right, lol
Something as small as AKB center is beneath Yuiyui, lol

Background and Key Points of Debate

Center positions in AKB48 typically rotate frequently based on general elections and single-by-single senbatsu (selected lineup) decisions, and only a handful of members — Watanabe Mayu and Maeda Atsuko among them — have ever held the sole center spot across consecutive releases. This latest three-in-a-row run is, as the thread notes, the first of its kind since Maeda Atsuko roughly 16 years ago, and the numbers bear out just how unusual this casting is by historical standards. Where opinion in the thread split was over whether to separate praise for Ito individually from an assessment of the group as a whole: posts noting “there’s no one besides Ito drawing attention” sat alongside counterarguments that “plenty of members are leveling up visually.” This taps into a long-running concern around AKB48’s tendency toward a “fixed senbatsu,” and it’s worth reading carefully so as not to conflate Ito’s individual talent with an evaluation of the group’s selection management.

  • PS5 Version of Forza Horizon 6 Still Has No Release Date in October — 5ch: ‘It Needs 20GB of Memory, You Know?’

Even as October 2026 rolls on, the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 6 still has no announced release date. On 5ch’s hardware/industry (“Geha”) board, a thread that started with doubts about the PS5’s power and memory requirements spiraled into debate over the series’ sales performance on Steam, and even the balance of power between Xbox and PlayStation. More than the missing release date itself, posters were divided over the reasons behind the series’ push into multiplatform release.

Honestly, it probably wouldn't run properly on PS5 anyway, so who cares? This game needs 20GB of memory, you know?
    15AnonymousOct 4, 2026 14:11
    Re: #13
It's running fine on the Xbox Series S, which only has 10GB of memory, lol
    20AnonymousOct 4, 2026 14:17
This isn't the time to be stubborn about it, not with things looking like this

    Re: #20
If it's pulling numbers like this on Steam, which is just a side market anyway, that's more than enough

Is the PS5 really crashing in price this hard?
Why isn't it selling even at that price?

    Re: #21
At this point it's basically a full-fledged third-party developer, huh
    26AnonymousOct 4, 2026 14:20
    Re: #22
    Steam's just a storefront, lol
    Third-party where?
Even if you buy the Steam version, you still just end up going through the clunky Steam launcher to connect to Xbox anyway. You clearly have no clue, lmao

Oh, is this that incident where it's fine when Microsoft does it, but when Sony made a PSN account mandatory, it somehow blew up into a huge controversy, lol

    Re: #21
It sold 3 million copies on Steam alone? LOL

It's the best-selling game on Steam by total revenue in 2026, after all
    31AnonymousOct 4, 2026 14:23
Forza Horizon is dead as an IP too — Microshaft went and destroyed its own community, lol

Guess you don't need to keep stalking FH6 threads anymore then
    35AnonymousOct 4, 2026 14:23
Steam's basically just a showcase store for them (an 'antenna shop' — a small storefront for exposure, not real sales)
MS and Sony don't care where it sells, as long as it sells somewhere
    44AnonymousOct 4, 2026 14:26
    Re: #35
    No way that's true, idiot
They have to hand Valve a 30% cut just for the privilege of selling there

    Peak concurrent players: 300,000 → 20,000
    Yeah, totally unnecessary, lol

What about TOKEN with its 3-digit player counts, or Marathon then?
    47AnonymousOct 4, 2026 14:29
    Re: #44
Whether you shove it through retail or push it on mobile, that 20-30% cut is baked into the price from the start. Greenhorn.
    57AnonymousOct 4, 2026 14:32
    Re: #47
The point is that if FH6 sells through the MS Store instead, that whole 20-30% cut stays in Microsoft's own pocket. You're too dumb for words, lol
    61AnonymousOct 4, 2026 14:36
Its reputation suddenly tanked, so I bet a lot of people don't even want it anymore
If there's no itasha (cars wrapped in anime-character decals), half the appeal's gone anyway
    63AnonymousOct 4, 2026 14:37
    Re: #61
Itasha are driving around everywhere in the game, though
    65AnonymousOct 4, 2026 14:38
    Re: #61
If you want to see itasha, just head to the drift zone — they're pretty much always there
    73AnonymousOct 4, 2026 14:46
People keep saying the ratings tanked, but…
Look at this — it's only Japanese users running a negative campaign and dragging it down to 'Mixed'
Every other country has it at 'Very Positive'

They went to the trouble of setting it in Japan, and this is how Japanese users repay them…

Steam really ought to look into this properly, don't you think?

GT7's getting Sportsland SUGO and the Ferrari F355 added, so I don't have time for this anyway

Then never open this thread again either

Background and Key Points of Debate

The Forza Horizon series has traditionally centered on Xbox and PC, but in recent years Microsoft has been pushing its major titles toward multiplatform releases, and this PS5 version fits that trend. The thread weighed the series’ standing based on PS5 hardware requirements and Steam sales figures, but since tracking methods differ by platform, it’s hard to judge the series’ overall performance from Steam numbers alone. Some comments about the reasoning behind the business decisions also included unverified rumors about the internal circumstances of a departed executive, so this article leaves out those unsubstantiated personal claims. As for the claim that review scores differ by country, the sample and timeframe weren’t specified, so that shouldn’t be taken as a blanket generalization.
