  • M!LK and EBiDAN Are Riding High — So Why Won’t Hello! Project Push Its Whole Roster? 5ch Debates

With EBiDAN’s M!LK enjoying a strong run, posters on a 5ch live-chat and general-discussion thread began asking whether Hello! Project should be promoting its whole roster — Juice=Juice included — the same way. The thread split between those citing BEYOOOOONDS’ rise as proof that individual groups can grow on their own, and those insisting the agency should put out a song featuring everyone together. Some pointed to past all-member Hello! Project songs that reportedly flopped, while others noted the budget gap between Up-Front (Hello! Project’s agency) and EBiDAN’s backers, turning the thread into a broader debate over the two camps’ differing promotion strategies.

Juice=Juice is all over the media right now — if Hello! Project doesn't push the whole roster while they've got the momentum, when will they?
    2AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:30
BEYOOOOONDS clawed their way up on their own — why not just follow their lead?
    3AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:31
    Re: #2
That's basically just BULLET TRAIN blowing up on their own — that's not the point.
They're saying put out a song with everyone instead.

    Re: #3
I think the point is: show some fighting spirit, or you don't get a free ride.

    Re: #3
What about Morning Musume's new single?
    7AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:36
The agency just doesn't have the muscle to pull it off.
Ako (a BEYOOOOONDS member) is popular, and yeah — boy-band idols really do have it easier.
    9AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:38
    Re: #7
So you're saying my oshi (favorite idol) isn't selling because Up-Front (Hello! Project's agency) is too weak?
    11AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:39
They can't throw that kind of money around.
Plus there's no way they could pull off something like 'Yes! Tokyo' again —
remember how those all-hands songs turned out in the past.
    13AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:40
    Re: #11
So you're saying my oshi doesn't sell because Up-Front is too weak to spend the money and promote them properly! 👈 Is that the argument?
    14AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:40
    Re: #1
It's because M!LK has completely taken the top spot.
Juice=Juice is still at the 'handing out business cards' stage…
    17AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:41
    Re: #14
Then again, even Johnny's (the major boy-band agency) groups that fell from the top don't necessarily bother doing that either, right?
    16AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:41
By 'a song with everyone,' do you mean something like 'Busu Tetsu' (nickname for a specific Hello! Project all-star song)?
    23AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:43
    Re: #16
More recently there's 'YEAH YEAH YEAH.'
    18AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:41
But they'll probably drop one for Hello! Project's anniversary anyway, right?
    19AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:42
    Re: #18
    Yeah, they probably will.
    20AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:42
Having 70 people show up at once is just a headache, honestly.
    25AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:43
    Re: #20
EBiDAN does it with a select lineup, though.
    31AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:46
    Re: #25
Then how about a 'Deca-beat' unit? (joking name for an all-star lineup)
    34AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:47
    Re: #25
Hello! Project doesn't do select lineups.
So then it's everyone? That's too many — it won't sell.
    21AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:42
M!LK's new single, the finale of their trilogy, is garbage — so in the end it's still Johnny's turf.
    26AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:44
    Re: #21
Reminder: there's no Johnny's group beating that 'garbage' in the numbers anyway.
    22AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:42
    Re: #9
Honestly they haven't had a hit in 20 years — they clearly don't know how to engineer a breakout.
    24AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:43
    Re: #22
That's because they kept pushing hollow hype with nothing to back it up.
Juice=Juice actually delivers numbers and gets results.
    28AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:44
    Re: #13
Even if they try to ride Juice=Juice's coattails and do the same thing, what they'll put out will be 'Hana, Tan no Toki'- or 'YEAH YEAH YEAH'-level quality.
And that's a shame, since they're already running Hello! Con just like EBiDAN runs Ebi Live.
    36AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:49
    Re: #28
If Juice=Juice sang it, it'd be a classic.
    30AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:46
    Re: #24
You just answered your own question, lol — Hello! Project has no intention of making them sell, lol.
    37AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:49
    Re: #30
If they had no intention of making Juice=Juice sell, they wouldn't keep letting them sell more and more instead of shelving them.
    40AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:50
Even before EBiDAN put out a song together,
BULLET TRAIN had already sold out the Tokyo Dome.
It's a different dimension from Hello! Project.
    43AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:51
    Re: #40
If Juice=Juice weren't being held back, they'd probably get close to that too.
    49AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:53
    Re: #43
The point is that, unlike Hello! Project where everyone below the top is painfully weak, EBiDAN's number two is strong as well.
    58AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:56
    Re: #49
M!LK hasn't even done a Dome show in the first place, so who even counts as number one here?
    79AnonymousSep 9, 2026 09:01
    Re: #76
Who do you even mean by the 'number two' in Re: #49's setup?
    41AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:50
M!LK sells the most, but BULLET TRAIN is the one treated as top of the pecking order —
and it doesn't blow up into a fight because they respect each other.
If Hello! Project tried that, it'd be an absolute bloodbath between the Musume and Juice wota (diehard fans).
    44AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:51
    Re: #41
There aren't really Morning Musume fans passionate enough to riot over that.
    48AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:53
    Re: #44
They'll come crawling out to nitpick, just watch.
Though once Oda (a Morning Musume member) is gone, Juice=Juice will probably run the show unopposed.
    56AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:55
    Re: #48
Musume should sell like BULLET TRAIN before they get to talk.
    57AnonymousSep 9, 2026 08:55
    Re: #48
They came crawling out during the 24-Hour TV drama riding on Tsunku's name, but they were still weaker than the BEYOOOOONDS fans (Biyo-wota) hyped up over 'Hai to Diamond' right now.
    77AnonymousSep 9, 2026 09:00
Say they did release it as an All Stars song —
it'd end up some gloomy, offbeat Tsunku (Hello! Project's veteran producer) tune, right?
The agency never breaks from that formula.
    80AnonymousSep 9, 2026 09:01
    Re: #77
Yeah, they hyped Tsunku up hard during the 24-Hour TV special.
    81AnonymousSep 9, 2026 09:01

At Hello! Con they just keep recycling 'Hello History' forever — a Tsunku song wouldn't even register.

Background and Key Points of This Debate

EBiDAN is a collective project bringing together male idol groups from multiple talent agencies, with acts like BULLET TRAIN, SUPER★DRAGON, and M!LK taking part — each releasing its own material as well as joint songs performed by a select lineup drawn from across the groups. Hello! Project, on the other hand, is home to numerous groups including Morning Musume, Juice=Juice, and BEYOOOOONDS, yet in recent years has rarely released songs featuring its full roster together. Some posters in the thread claimed that past songs featuring every member reportedly went over poorly, suggesting this may be one reason the agency has since avoided all-group releases — though this is only a claim made in the thread and cannot be verified. Opinions in the discussion were split between those who favor letting individual groups grow on their own and those who want the agency to actively push the whole roster together, with no clear consensus reached.

※This article is compiled from excerpts and a summary of the 5ch (Hello! Project) thread “Now That M!LK Has Broken Out They’ve Started Pushing EBiDAN — Shouldn’t Hello! Project Be Doing the Same?”.

  • Love Live! Fans Fume Over Concert ‘Seat Upgrade’ System

On 5ch’s Love Live! board, discontent is spreading over the “upgrade” system that lets ticket winners pay extra to move to better seats after the lottery. This tour offers a CD priority lottery, a fan club lottery, and upgrades, but no ticket resale and no seat-tier pricing. Fans are calling it “double-dipping” and “a de facto price hike,” and comparisons have flown with the concert systems of other franchises like idolmaster and Uma Musume. The topic even trended on X.

    It’s trending on X, huh

idolmaster's setup is more ideal and fan-friendly.
Maybe it's because they have fewer cast-focused fans than Love Live and character merch sells well instead?

"All-media project" sounds nice on paper,
but without game revenue, serial-code tickets and upgrades run wild,
and if any one medium falls apart, the chain reaction really hurts.
    6AnonymousSep 8, 2026 20:15
Total fan numbers just keep shrinking,
so they have to squeeze whatever they can out of whoever's left or it's not sustainable.
    7AnonymousSep 8, 2026 20:19
Honestly, serial codes rack up more hate than upgrades do, don't they?
    8AnonymousSep 8, 2026 20:23
Part of it's that I'm out in the sticks so travel costs add up,
and yeah, a big chunk is because I follow a specific member too,
but I'm already stretched thin just on ticket prices — how much are the people buying tons of merch on top of that AND going all-in on "rabukatsu" (heavy Love Live fan activities) even spending on this franchise…?
    9AnonymousSep 8, 2026 20:23
"Anyone may apply" → and somehow the "just bundle a serial code with it" crowd shows up anyway
It's a fan meeting, so it's not that different, come on
    10AnonymousSep 8, 2026 20:26
Seriously stop force-bundling merch just to jack up the price
The "Chu-tori-era Live" (a past concert) was 4,000 yen with no merch attached, so this doesn't add up
    13AnonymousSep 8, 2026 20:45
    Re: #10
    Chu-tori-era: 4,000 yen
    Sports Festival: 12,500 yen
    What is this??
    11AnonymousSep 8, 2026 20:35
Saw a post on X about this — even with upgrades, wouldn't total sales at a 10,000-capacity venue in the Kanto/Kansai area barely move?
If upgrades only apply to 10% = 1,000 attendees and you double their per-head price, total sales only go up by about 1.1x.
Sounds like Liella!'s ("Star's") management must be in pretty rough financial shape.
Then again, if attendance drops even 10% it hurts revenue more — makes you wonder if a boycott could actually happen.
    14AnonymousSep 8, 2026 20:47
    Re: #11
They're now charging for good seats that used to come free with a regular ticket, and it costs them nothing to offer — pure margin.
I'd bet it's more profitable than whatever they lose from fewer attendees.
    12AnonymousSep 8, 2026 20:35
It's all JASRAC's fault, really (JASRAC — Japan's music copyright collection society)
    15AnonymousSep 8, 2026 20:50
The idiot management probably thinks people will just pay for upgrades at every show they used to attend, but nope — now that upgrades exist, I'm cutting all my travel dates.
Paying big money at a crappy venue for an arena-seat gacha, or a guaranteed spot in the back? Are they serious?
    19AnonymousSep 8, 2026 20:56
Honestly, the number of touring fans is definitely going to drop. Hasunosora ("Lotus") is doing regional upgrade seats too, but that's in Kanazawa, a venue where you can actually lose the lottery, so it's not exactly reassuring to attempt.
Doing this for Liella!, which already struggles to fill regional venues, just seems like self-sabotage.
    31AnonymousSep 8, 2026 21:14
    Re: #19
Feels like all Liella! management cares about is keeping it alive longer than Nijigasaki ("Rainbow"), its senior by three years.
Can't very well fold the junior series before the senior one, right?
    25AnonymousSep 8, 2026 21:06
For a sense of scale, I think the Asia tour is a good comparison.
    28AnonymousSep 8, 2026 21:11
    Re: #25
Raising upgrade prices to match that kind of scale would actually make the most sense to me.
    33AnonymousSep 8, 2026 21:28
Liella!'s previous numbered tour stopped in Yokohama and Nagoya, FYI.
    46AnonymousSep 8, 2026 22:34
    Re: #33
Oh right, last time didn't have an Osaka stop either and it was at an exhibition hall, so I skipped it.
    Totally forgot about that.
The one I actually went to was the tour before that.
    38AnonymousSep 8, 2026 21:35
If they're just raising prices without the performance quality going up, I don't need to go. Love Live keeps getting less fun every year — thinking they can still charge more for it is management seriously fooling themselves.
    41AnonymousSep 8, 2026 22:01
Sounds like the people complaining just don't want to go unless they're up front.
Either way you're paying the same amount, no?
    50AnonymousSep 8, 2026 22:57
    Re: #41
    ?
Up until now you had a shot at a front-row seat for the same price.
    44AnonymousSep 8, 2026 22:29
Once you put a price gap between seats, you also have to think about how fan service is distributed.
For example, if they add a backstage area or use the cart/trolley a lot to look out for the back seats, the upgrade buyers will complain,
but if they completely ignore the back seats, everyone who didn't upgrade will bail.
That's a tricky balancing act to pull off — can Liella! actually manage it?
    56AnonymousSep 8, 2026 23:21
    Re: #44
Judging by the recent "Chu-tori" show, doesn't look like they've thought it through at all.
    69AnonymousSep 8, 2026 23:49
    Re: #44
Uma Musume did a seating layout surrounding a center stage once, and the cast kept turning their backs to the most expensive seats, which got complaints.
Probably because of the complaints, it was fixed by the next day, though.
    47AnonymousSep 8, 2026 22:40
Wait, is Love Live the only seiyuu-live franchise pulling this upgrade business model?
I don't know about the others, so I checked the live event pages for what seemed like the most comparable ones — idolmaster, Uma Musume, and MyGO/Mujica (BanG Dream! sub-units) —
and they have seat grades and stuff, but none of them seem to do post-lottery upgrades.
    53AnonymousSep 8, 2026 23:14
    Re: #47
I feel like TrySail has done something like that before.
    58AnonymousSep 8, 2026 23:26
Imagine an Ichiban Kuji lottery draw (a tiered prize raffle common at Japanese pop-culture events) that used to cost 800 yen
and now they tell you: "From now on, a shot at the A, B, or C prize costs 1,600 yen.
If you only want a shot at the lower-tier prizes, you can still draw for 800 yen like before!"
Who's actually going to draw for that?
    84AnonymousSep 9, 2026 00:12
    Re: #58
With that analogy, the lower-tier prizes would stop showing up cheap secondhand, so plenty of people would still draw just for those.
    61AnonymousSep 8, 2026 23:33
Unlike tiered seat sales, upgrades feel like being charged twice, which probably makes the psychological burden bigger.
And you're literally paying handling fees twice too.
    63AnonymousSep 8, 2026 23:38
    Re: #61
Since there's no resale, skipping the upgrade means a guaranteed back seat, so I bet a lot of people will end up only attending one arena show in Kanto or Kansai in person for Liella!.
This time there's no Kansai venue, and Fukuoka and Aichi are both full-flat floor seating, so I'd guess it ends up pretty empty.
    73AnonymousSep 9, 2026 00:00
Read between the lines — they're in the red badly enough that they had to resort to upgrades.
If you don't like it, just wait around until the franchise dies off.
    77AnonymousSep 9, 2026 00:06
    Re: #73
With backlash this bad, won't the "zentsuu" crowd (fans who attend every single show) either cut back on how many shows they hit, or drop out entirely — shrinking sales even further?
    79AnonymousSep 9, 2026 00:07
    Re: #77
Guess the whole series just ends, then.
    Fine by me.
Love Live Fes 2 can be the last hurrah.

    Re: #79
    Just end "Star" (Liella!/Superstar!!) already.
Rainbow (Nijigasaki), Lotus (Hasunosora), and Bird (another Love Live sub-franchise) still have anime coming, so they're not backed into a corner enough to fold yet.
    80AnonymousSep 9, 2026 00:09
    Re: #76
Didn't idolmaster's Shiny Colors bundle an earliest-priority lottery serial code with a 70,000-yen live Blu-ray?
    83AnonymousSep 9, 2026 00:12
    Re: #80
    Yeah, that's correct.
Shiny Colors bundled a serial code for earliest-priority front-row access to their shuffle-unit live show with the Blu-ray.

    Background and key points

The “upgrade” discussed here refers to a system that lets fans pay extra to move from their lottery-assigned seat to a better one. In the thread, users compared Love Live! to other seiyuu-driven live franchises like idolmaster and Uma Musume, both of which offer ticket resale and tiered seat pricing — features Love Live! has neither of — and that gap became a major source of complaints. At the same time, some posters defended the move, arguing that as the fanbase keeps shrinking, expanding revenue streams is simply unavoidable, so this isn’t a case of simple management-bashing. Some posters also worked out that upgrades apply to only a small fraction of winners’ seats, meaning even doubling the price would have a limited effect on total revenue — a gap between the emotional backlash and the actual revenue math that’s easy for readers to miss.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Love Live!) thread “Fans grumble over Love Live! concert upgrade system.”

  • New “Superstar!!” (Liella!) Update Struggles for “Likes” — 5ch: “Do You Even Understand Supply and Demand?”

On September 8, a gap in “like” counts between new social-media posts from different Love Live! sub-series became a hot topic on 5ch. A new live-announcement post from “Liella!” (Superstar!!) stayed stuck in the 4,000s for likes, while posts tied to “Hasunosora” pulled in anywhere from roughly 4,000 to over 9,000 — and posters were quick to flag the gap. The thread also dragged in CD sales figures, streaming listener counts, and Sports Festival attendance as evidence, with opinions split between “people are watching, they just don’t actually like it” and others chalking the gap up to differences in supply versus demand.

    1AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:03
Is Superstar!! really okay going this route?
People already care less about it than Hangyasaki now, don't they?
    3AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:10
But it's beating the latest Hangyasaki chapter (a Hasunosora spin-off 4-panel comic) by 20K impressions and nearly 200 more reposts…
    4AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:12
"People are watching but they don't actually like it" — isn't that basically hell?
    5AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:24
Let me throw a stone into this pond.

    What about Hasunosora?
    8AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:31
    Re: #5
    Here's Hasunosora's new-info post.
And for the record, this isn't even their pinned post.
    6AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:24
People also pointed out the low like count back when the 7th [anniversary live] was announced, but the Hoshi faithful (fans of Superstar!!/Liella!, "hoshi" meaning "star") said at the time it was "just spread thin because there's a YouTube announcement too, plus a separate notice post apart from the video."
    9AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:32
    My bad.
Hangyasaki actually runs on days that are multiples of 5, so that comparison doesn't really hold up…
    10AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:34
Going by the new info (the next live announcement), Liella! is now doing worse than Ikizu Live.
    Isn't this basically over?
    11AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:36
Being under half of Hasunosora's numbers, fine, I get that. But falling below Ikizu Live is genuinely bad.
    12AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:38
This isn't really the time to be celebrating "20,000 CDs sold," is it? At this point it's basically just a handful of hardcore diehards left.
    13AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:43
Nijigasaki's pinned post with the movie key visual has 23.7K — having a movie really is powerful.
    15AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:47
Niji >>> Hasu >>> Tori > Hoshi (fan shorthand for Nijigasaki, Hasunosora, a third group, and Superstar!!/Liella!, each named for a kanji in the group's name)
Isn't that basically the current pecking order? Ikizu Live 2nd alone drew more people than all four Sports Festival shows combined.

Hangyasaki's probably going to get quietly cancelled too before anyone notices.
    It's just a hollow, buzz-chasing 4-panel comic like Ryouran.
Nijigasaki will probably be completely done by next year, but Liella! has grown into content solid enough that Tutorial Live and the Sports Festival can probably keep going for another 5 years — it's not even a contest.

    Listen, hater —
there's no such thing as a "spin-off" in Love Live.
    It's all main canon.

    Background and Talking Points

The Love Live! franchise runs several sub-brands in parallel — “Nijigasaki High School Idol Club,” “Hasunosora Jogakuin School Idol Club,” and “Liella!” (Superstar!!, or “Supasuta”) among them — each with its own social media accounts, CD releases, and live tours. Fans regularly debate which sub-brand currently has the most momentum, citing metrics like “likes” and impressions on new-info posts, CD sales figures, and streaming listener counts. It’s worth noting, though, that “like” counts can shift depending on posting timing and how announcements are split up (for example, whether a YouTube announcement is posted separately), so a simple numbers comparison doesn’t necessarily reflect actual sales, attendance, or long-term prospects. Even within the thread, posters raised cases where the metrics don’t line up — such as a CD selling 20,000 copies while the Sports Festival had visibly empty seats — underscoring how hard it is to judge superiority from any single number.

  • National Superstar Actress and Male Idol’s “Bar-Hopping Date” Report Sparks ID-Guessing Frenzy on 5ch

On the afternoon of September 9, the breaking-news account for “Weekly Post” teased an upcoming scoop about a “bar-hopping date” between a national superstar actress and a male idol. Photos were set to be published later that afternoon, and at this point neither their real names nor anything beyond silhouettes had been revealed. On 5ch, posters flooded in to guess the identities of the actress and idol based on the shadow photo attached to the teaser tweet. Notably, opinions on who even counts as a “national superstar actress” split sharply along generational lines, and the discussion heated up without ever reaching a definitive answer.

    Background and Points of Debate

This kind of scoop teaser is a format Post Seven’s breaking-news account has used repeatedly: build buzz with a silhouette photo before the full article goes live. Where the thread split was over just who counts as a “national superstar actress” — some assumed veteran heavyweights like Sayuri Yoshinaga or Haruka Ayase, while others pointed to younger, morning-drama-generation stars like Mio Imada or Suzu Hirose, exposing a clear generational gap in perception. On the male idol side, several names came up too, including A.B.C-Z’s Hashimoto and SixTONES’ Jesse, but the silhouette alone wasn’t enough to pin anyone down, and it all stayed speculation. Keep in mind that no real names will be confirmed until the full article is published.

  • Hello! Project’s Best-Songs Debate: Fans Split Over ‘Resonant Blue’

A thread on 5ch’s Hello! Project board titled “The Hello! Project best-songs top 4 has to be ‘Gatame Kira,’ ‘Resonant Blue,’ ‘What is LOVE?,’ and ‘Come with Me’” set off a wave of agreement and pushback. “Gatame Kira” got shot down almost instantly (“no way that’s making the list”), while “Resonant Blue” split opinion over whether it was genuinely beloved by fans or just a “village song” (a track adored mainly by staff and insiders, not the wider fanbase). Others chimed in with alternative picks like “MADAYADE” and “Wacha☆Future,” and some lamented a drop in songwriting quality over the last decade, turning the thread into a broader debate about generational differences in how fans view Hello! Project.

I figured I'd end up feeling the same way once I grew up, but nope, never happened lol
It's not that I dislike it — it gets me pumped live — it just never made my list of favorites.
    26AnonymousSep 8, 2026 22:41

It was a massively popular song — the one and only track the old-guard fans (the type who trash-talk every new single) unanimously crowned a masterpiece.
    29AnonymousSep 8, 2026 22:44
My take is 'Resonant Blue' is the ultimate 'village song' — an insiders'/staff favorite more than a real fan favorite.
    30AnonymousSep 8, 2026 22:45
'Resonant Blue' is the only Hello! Project song I'll sing in public, and people are always floored when I tell them it's an idol song.
    31AnonymousSep 8, 2026 22:46
Why does it even need to be limited to the last 10 years?
    32AnonymousSep 8, 2026 22:46
I don't think it was popular with the general public or on the surface.
But I heard all the time that the hardcore fans back then, plus the agency staff, show crew, and members' parents and families, all said 'Resonant Blue' was their favorite.

So I figured, oh, it must be the kind of song music connoisseurs and grown-ups love.
Thought maybe once I became a proper adult I'd come around to it too…
but nope, my feelings never changed one bit from when I was twenty lol
It gets me hyped live, but the lyrics don't land with me at all, and outside of a live performance it just doesn't move me.
Still, I definitely don't dislike it.

I don't know what the criteria for a 'village song' even are, but 'Resonant Blue' is a work of art that stands apart from today's festival-oriented, "as long as it's hype and goes viral it wins" style of songwriting.
You could even call it Tsunku's own inner girl given musical form.

Is 'Chihei Hongan' really better than 'Matenrou Show'?

Background and Key Points of the Debate

Hello! Project is the umbrella name for a family of idol groups whose songs Tsunku♂ produced for many years, with each group — Morning Musume, Berryz Koubou, Juice=Juice, and others — carrying its own distinct musical lineage. The term “village song,” which came up repeatedly in the thread, refers to a track that’s rated far more highly by insiders and staff than by the general fan base, and whether “Resonant Blue” fits that description was the central point of contention. Some also pointed out that quality drops off if you limit the discussion to the last decade, which likely reflects how much more varied the production setup has become in recent years. There’s no single correct answer for a “best four,” and the fact that people’s rankings shift depending on how long they’ve been a fan and which era they’re most attached to is exactly why these ranking threads tend to blow up.

※This article is compiled and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “Isn’t the Hello! Project best-4 songs just ‘Gatame Kira,’ ‘Resonant Blue,’ ‘What is LOVE?,’ and ‘Come with Me’?“

  • Rosy Chronicle’s Free Live Splits Into 3 Parts — 5ch Speculates on Why the Meet-and-Greets Got Divided Up

Hello! Project’s Rosy Chronicle has announced details for its free live event “4th Single Free Live Circuit,” to be held on September 23, 2026 at Seibuen Cycle Theater. The mini-live will be split into three parts starting at 12:30, 15:00, and 17:30, each paired with a “send-off” style meet-and-greet session. On 5ch reaction threads, speculation quickly piled up: “Maybe it’s split to fit in breaks,” “Maybe it’s meant to ease the members’ workload.” Meanwhile, some pointed out that the mini-live sets seem to be getting shorter than last time, and others questioned how ticket exchanges would work for fans holding multiple participation tickets — with the operational format itself becoming the main focus of discussion.

    21AnonymousSep 8, 2026 18:31
Splitting it in two dilutes the meaning of being last in line, so it's actually a minus for sales.
Just part of the "work-style reform" to ease the members' burden.

If you want to catch mini-live Part 3 and head straight home, but end up with a Part 6 ticket, do you have to trade with someone who got Part 5, or just wait 30 minutes?

・Those who receive a "priority area entry ticket" for mini-live Part 3 will be given a "send-off meet-and-greet participation ticket" for either Part 5 or Part 6.

    Members? Or fans?

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

At Hello! Project release events, it’s standard practice to follow a short mini-live with a meet-and-greet session called a “send-off” (o-miokuri). Splitting a single day into multiple parts is often done out of consideration for venue capacity and the physical toll on performing members. While some in the thread took it positively, calling it a “work-style reform,” others worried the mini-live sets themselves might be shrinking — opinions were split. The relationship between the “priority area entry ticket” and the “participation ticket,” along with how ticket types are handled across the different parts, may be confusing for readers unfamiliar with Hello! Project’s event formats — worth noting that the thread’s focus centers less on simple popularity debate and more on curiosity about the mechanics of the meet-and-greet system itself.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hello! Project) thread “[Breaking] Rosy Chronicle Begins Focusing on Meet-and-Greets at Release Events in Bid to Shake Off Unpopularity wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.”

  • Aoi Yamazaki Reveals Juice=Juice’s Budokan Show Sparked the Idea for “Moremi”

Singer-songwriter Aoi Yamazaki revealed in an interview with Nikkei Entertainment that after watching Juice=Juice’s Budokan concert, she felt “fire suits Juice=Juice — I want flames in my songs for them too,” and that feeling became the spark for writing “Moremi” (a title that plays on “do-re-mi”). When the story spread on 5ch’s Hello! Project board, discussion turned to the fact that the song’s live performances actually do feature flame effects, and to a possible link with the fire staging used for “Fiesta! Fiesta!” at the TRIANGROOOVE2 Budokan concert. The conversation also expanded to the group’s ties with other songwriters like Ameko Kodama.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Aoi Yamazaki is a singer-songwriter who has written Juice=Juice songs including “Moremi,” while Ameko Kodama is another writer who has contributed multiple songs to the group. In the thread, discussion centered on the origin of “Moremi”‘s fire staging — while one theory credits the TRIANGROOOVE2 Budokan concert as the trigger, some pointed out that fire effects had actually already been used at Yuka Miyazaki’s graduation concert, cautioning against a tendency to retroactively construct a tidy narrative. Concern was also raised about copyright issues after the Nikkei Entertainment article’s content was reposted directly into the thread, offering a rare glimpse into the usually invisible tension around how magazine reporting circulates within fan communities.

※This article is compiled as an excerpt and summary from the 5ch (Hello! Project board) thread “Aoi Yamazaki: “After watching Juice=Juice’s Budokan concert, I thought ‘fire suits Juice=Juice, I want flames raised for my songs too,’ and that’s how I wrote ‘Moremi’”.

  • Hello! Project Trainees: Joining at 16 Makes You ‘Old’ — 5ch Reacts: ‘Everyone Else Was Still in Elementary or Middle School’

Hello! Project’s Sakura Ishiyama and Ichika Arisawa both joined the Hello! Pro Kenshuusei (trainee) program at age 16 — an unusually old age for a trainee, with most of their fellow trainees still in elementary or middle school at the time. The topic set off a 5ch thread covering trainee tenure rankings and the trainee world’s unique custom where seniority is based on join date, not age. Posters also discussed the recent trend of mid-career trainees joining as late as 22, broadening into a wider conversation about how Hello! Project’s talent-development approach has shifted.

Kojima got the chance to sing 'Moré! Mi' at the Momoiro Uta Gassen,
and she already had ties to Miyamoto — that's exactly why she ended up in Hello! Project.
I doubt there are many people who'd get such a convenient second-career shot at joining Hello! Project.

Background and key points of this discussion

A defining feature of Hello! Project’s trainee (kenshuusei) system is that seniority is determined by join date rather than age — a setup sometimes compared to a sumo stable. As a result, most members join while still in middle school, making a join age of 16 the exception commenters pointed it out to be. Some in the thread credited Ishiyama and Arisawa’s arrival with supporting Juice=Juice’s generational turnover, while other exchanges hint there was skepticism about them early on. In recent years, mid-career joins at 22 have also appeared, and the fact that entry into training is no longer strictly tied to age stands out as a shift from the traditional image of a trainee. Note that some posts in the thread mocking certain members’ looks or necessity have been left out of this article.

※This article excerpts and summarizes the 5ch (Hello! Project) thread “Sakura Ishiyama: “Ichika Arisawa and I were in the same trainee class — we were both already 16, which is quite old, when we joined as Hello! Pro trainees. Everyone around us was in elementary or middle school…”“.

  • Rima Matsunaga: ‘I Want the Other Groups to Succeed Too’ — On Bonding at Hello! Con

Juice=Juice’s Rima Matsunaga shared an anecdote in an interview with Nikkei Entertainment about meeting members of other groups at Hello! Con, where they tell her “I saw you on TV,” and said she wants not just Juice=Juice but every Hello! Project group to succeed. When this comment was picked up on a Hello! Project thread on 5ch, reactions were split — some voiced genuine appreciation, while others sarcastically remarked that she’s “getting full of herself.” A ranking table showing each Hello! Project member’s number of days in the group was also posted alongside the discussion, drawing interest as a handy reference.

    24AnonymousSep 8, 2026 15:30
She'll need to wear a disguise even backstage at Hello! Con at this rate
    50AnonymousSep 8, 2026 15:37
    She's cute though
    52AnonymousSep 8, 2026 15:39
    Riding high on herself, huh

Mei Yamazaki's only been on Music Station once,
so she ranks below Yume Kudo, who's been on twice

I'm a Juice=Juice fan myself, but could people quit chopping up Nikkei Entertainment articles into separate thread posts?
    It's an eyesore

    Background and key points

The days-in-group ranking table posted in the thread (comment 2) is simply a comparison of tenure length based on join dates as listed on Wikipedia — it’s easy to mistake it for a measure of popularity or internal group standing, which it isn’t. Matsunaga’s remark itself was a positive show of support for other groups, but the thread repeatedly saw comments calling her “full of herself,” with reactions focusing more on her attitude and status than on what she actually said. This isn’t unrelated to the fact that Hello! Project’s management has long deliberately created opportunities for cross-group interaction (like Hello! Con), which creates fertile ground for this kind of member-to-member shout-out to become a talking point. Meanwhile, comments mocking idols’ looks or abilities showed up frequently as a separate thread of discussion unrelated to the main topic, so those have been left out of this article.

*This article is an excerpt and summary of the 5ch (Hello! Project) thread “Rima Matsunaga: “When I meet people from other groups at Hello! Con, they say to me, ‘I saw you on TV.’ I want every Hello! Project group to succeed, not just Juice=Juice”.”

  • Juice=Juice’s Risa Irie Birthday Event Set for October 23 — 5ch: “Birthday Event Traffic Jam”

A fan-club-members-only event for Risa Irie of Hello! Project group Juice=Juice, titled “Juice=Juice Risa Irie Birthday Event 2026,” has been announced. It will be held at Yurakucho Asahi Hall in Tokyo, with matinee and evening performances on Friday, October 23, 2026. Irie turns 21 on October 18. Reactions poured in on 5ch’s Hello! Project board as soon as the announcement dropped, with many posters noting a “birthday event traffic jam” given how many other members’ birthdays and birthday events are packed into October, and comparing the venue’s capacity to other members’ events.

Wow, there are 9 Hello! Project members born in October?
No wonder there's a birthday event traffic jam
    9AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:05
If this dropped at 2 PM, that probably means there's another announcement at 6 PM too
    10AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:05
    Same venue as Ono, huh

It's also the same hall Morning Musume.'s leader used

    Risachi

Three Fridays in a row in October, huh

Still no word on Ressa's gathering?
    13AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:10
Pretty ordinary capacity for someone with a once-in-20-years miracle buff.
    And risachi's so cute too
    14AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:11
Is it really okay to have the same capacity as Rosie?
    16AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:12
Glad it's in Yurakucho — easy to get back to Nagoya from there
    18AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:13
Thinking risachi and sakurachi are about on the same level seems like a fair read
    Totally makes sense
    19AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:13
Sounds like the Ressa Festival is on 11/4

    Re: #19
That's pretty late, was there some reason?
Marin's birthday event, only 2 days apart from risachi's, was announced way earlier

Please come to Tsubaki's Budokan show too!

I lost every single Juice=Juice ticket lottery, so I can rest easy
    26AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:18
The 6 PM one must be an additional show
They're two rooms short for 5ROOMS after all
Is that gonna be 3 days at PIA Arena, or 2 days somewhere like Yokohama Arena or K-Arena?
    39AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:57
    Re: #26
I keep seeing this, but at this point what big venues are there besides Budokan and PIA Arena?
    27AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:19
Arisawa, Ishiyama, and Hayashi will probably step it up next year, so Irie's the bottom of Juice=Juice for now
    28AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:19
    Finally!
Aren't birthday event announcements usually at 5 or 6 PM?
Since it was running so late, maybe they pushed it earlier this time?
Marin-chan, whose birthday's the same day as risachi's, has her event on 10/5
    31AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:22
    Re: #28
When the schedule's packed, sometimes it gets announced at 2 PM
    34AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:41
Does risachi's birthday event have a lot of singing?
Or is it mostly talk segments?
    36AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:51
    Re: #34
Compared to other Juice=Juice members, it's on the lighter side for song count
    35AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:42
Man, there really are too many Hello! Project members
    37AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:53

    Down 300 from last year?
    38AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:55
Kudo, who I thought wasn't benefiting from the 'glow-up' photogenic boost (fan slang for members who look extra good lately), sold out both first-round shows, so you really can't predict how Irie's will go either
    58AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:59
The 6 PM slot today is just the second-round reception for Tsubaki's Budokan show, right?
    59AnonymousSep 8, 2026 14:59
@ Just because the copypasta got called out doesn't mean you have to go back to the usual copypasta lol
    69AnonymousSep 8, 2026 15:00
Tsubaki's Budokan second-round reception is in the evening, right?
    74AnonymousSep 8, 2026 15:10
Went ahead and bought the digital edition of Irie-chan's photobook again

    Background and Talking Points

At Hello! Project, it’s become customary to hold fan-club-members-only “birthday events” around the time each member has their birthday. These are typically held at halls seating a few hundred people, and Yurakucho Asahi Hall is one venue used frequently for this purpose. In the thread, alongside this announcement of Risa Irie’s birthday event, posters focused on how many other members’ birthdays and birthday events are clustered together in October, with many comments comparing the scheduling crunch and venue capacities to other members’ shows. It’s worth noting that the content of these birthday events (whether singing-focused or talk-segment-focused) varies by member and by year and isn’t officially announced in advance, so predictions in the thread like “fewer songs this time” are just guesses based on posters’ past experiences at similar events.
