  • Yahagi Ken and Ogi Hiroaki Slam Women’s Yoga-Wear Outfits — 5ch: ‘Isn’t This Just a Minato Ward Flex?’

Ogiyahagi’s Ken Yahagi and Hiroaki Ogi criticized women who walk around town in yoga wear near Minato Ward, during the late-night TBS Radio broadcast on September 17. Yahagi pointed out, “There are people walking around in skin-tight leggings,” and Ogi agreed, saying he “doesn’t know where to look.” After Yahoo News reported the remarks, a contentious thread sprang up on 5ch. Opinions split widely — from pushback that fashion is a matter of personal freedom, to theories that it’s really a “flex” showing off being a Minato Ward resident, to laments that Japan has become a country with less freedom to dress than China or Korea.

    9/18 (Fri) 4:15 PM

Comedy duo Ogiyahagi’s Hiroaki Ogi (55) and Ken Yahagi (55) appeared live on TBS Radio’s late-night program “Thursday JUNK: Ogiyahagi no Megane Biiki” (Thursdays, 1am), which aired the night of the 17th. The pair voiced complaints about certain fashion choices they’ve noticed women wearing out in public.

Yahagi opened with, “This happens a lot in Minato Ward especially — there really are people out walking around dressed for yoga. I’m serious. Skin-tight leggings and everything,” and Ogi chimed in, “I really don’t know where to look.” The two went on to criticize women going out in public wearing leggings.

    Background and Points of Discussion

“Ogiyahagi no Megane Biiki,” the long-running late-night TBS Radio show featuring Yahagi and Ogi (both 55), airs Thursday nights. The “athleisure” trend of wearing yoga wear as everyday clothing spread from the West and has since taken root in Japan; Minato Ward was likely singled out because the look stands out in areas like Azabu and Aoyama, known for their fitness-conscious, affluent residents. The thread split between those who see clothing choices as purely a matter of personal freedom and those who read the hosts’ comments as fair criticism from an older generation’s point of view. Comments like “this would get you forced to apologize in America” reflect differing attitudes toward body positivity, though it’s unclear from the responses whether the original radio remarks were partly in jest. Note that this article is based solely on excerpts of the reported comments — the broader context of the show itself remains unknown.

※This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Entertainment/Sports News+) thread “Ken Yahagi: “This happens a lot in Minato Ward… there are people walking around dressed for yoga” — Criticizes women’s public fashion; Hiroaki Ogi: “That’s not okay, it’s embarrassing”.”

  • Ai Mikami Once Dreamed of Being a ‘Lighting Tech’ — A Play She Saw in Middle School Also Sparked a Dream of Becoming a Director

Actress Ai Mikami (25) revealed on NHK’s “Asa-Ichi” broadcast on the 18th that before she set her sights on acting, she wanted to become a “lighting technician.” The spark came from a stage play she saw in her second year of junior high, when she intuitively felt, “This is it — this is my future.” She also said she dreams of becoming a director someday. On the 5channel Entertainment/Sports News+ (Geisoku) board, this comment caught fire because it recalled an incident from a few years back when Suzu Hirose sparked controversy with her remark, “Why would anyone want to become a lighting technician?” — prompting a flood of replies comparing the two actresses’ comments.

Ishibashi: "The illuminations are real — there are people who install them. There's a lighting technician here in this studio too — what do you think of them?"

And that's when she made the "become a lighting technician, of all things (someone with no power)…" remark.

Well, I'm team Alice, then. (referring to Suzu Hirose's sister, actress Alice Hirose)

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Ai Mikami’s remark blew up on 5channel because of an incident a few years ago in which Suzu Hirose was criticized for saying, “Why would anyone want to become a lighting technician?” — seen at the time as belittling behind-the-scenes work. In the thread, Mikami’s story about once aspiring to be a “lighting technician” was held up against that earlier incident, with some users speculating it might be a veiled jab at Hirose. It’s worth noting, though, that whether she intended any such thing was never addressed on the program itself — that’s purely an association drawn by 5channel users. Ryoko Yonekura’s own past remark was also brought up for comparison, underscoring how an offhand comment on television can end up being repeated for years — which is itself part of what fuels threads like this one.

    Background and Talking Points

This story kicked off when wind-band sheet music publisher Rocket Music posted a video on X of the Yokohama City Fire Department Band performing Juice=Juice’s “Moré! Mi Amore.” It’s not unusual in wind-band/brass-band circles for local government bands to perform and arrange sheet music for popular songs — it’s often done as a promotional tie-in. What got the thread going was the wordplay built around “enjō” (going up in flames/blowing up online) paired with the fact that it was a fire department doing the performing, plus hopes for a Kōhaku Uta Gassen appearance and comments calling it a “social phenomenon.” On the other hand, replies touching on real past fire incidents at venues have been omitted from this article, since the people or damage involved can’t be confirmed. One thing worth flagging for readers: this thread isn’t about an actual fire accident — it’s centered on wordplay connecting “fire department” with “going up in flames.”

She also disclosed her diagnosis, saying she intends to prioritize treatment “until I achieve full remission.” On 5ch’s Entertainment/Sports Breaking News+ board, the thread drew a flood of stories from people who’ve dealt with sciatica and herniated discs, with opinions split between going through with surgery versus taking a wait-and-see approach with conservative treatment. Some pointed out that former ballet dancers tend to develop an exaggerated lower-back arch from maintaining posture, and that jobs requiring frequent high heels also tend to strain the lower back.

Guess doing too many extravagant weddings really does take a toll on the body after all.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

“Remission” is a term originally used mainly for chronic conditions like cancer, leukemia, and rheumatoid arthritis — it describes a state where symptoms have subsided without the condition being fully cured, meaning a relapse remains possible. Some users felt it was an odd word choice for a herniated disc, and the thread ended up debating whether the term was even appropriate. While some cases of herniated discs and spinal stenosis do improve with surgery, others are left with lingering aftereffects, or naturally improve through conservative treatment instead — in practice, treatment approaches vary depending on symptoms and how advanced the condition is. Commenters also noted that former ballet dancers and people in jobs requiring frequent high heel wear tend to develop an arched lower back, which lines up with a well-known medical tendency for lower-back strain to build up over time.

  • Wolverine’s Contract Could Be Terminated If It Misses 6 Million Sales — 5ch: “That’s Asking Too Much”

Insomniac Games’ latest title, Marvel’s Wolverine, has launched on PS5. According to contract documents leaked in the 2023 cyberattack on the studio, Sony and Marvel reportedly agreed to a clause allowing either party to terminate their deal if none of three flagship titles covered by the contract sells 6 million combined PS5 and PC units within a year of release. On 5ch’s hardware board, opinions split over whether that sales target is realistic in today’s market, and whether Sony might just pad the numbers through free giveaways or console bundles if it falls short.

Marvel’s Wolverine launches on PS5 this week, and Insomniac Games’ new title appears to carry more than just the job of pleasing Logan fans — it’s reportedly also tasked with selling at least 6 million copies in its first year. This isn’t exactly new information, but it resurfaced on the eve of launch thanks to documents obtained in the 2023 cyberattack on Insomniac, which included details of the contract Sony and Marvel struck covering Wolverine and future X-Men games.

According to the contract terms that came to light at the time, Sony and Marvel have the right to terminate the agreement if one of the three flagship titles specified in the contract fails to sell more than 6 million combined PS5 and PC units within a year of its PlayStation console launch. That makes Marvel’s Wolverine a particularly critical entry among the mutant-related projects covered by this deal.

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

This contract clause stems from reporting based on internal documents leaked in the 2023 cyberattack on Insomniac — details that had been known in some circles before but drew renewed attention with Wolverine’s launch. The thread split over how realistic the 6-million-unit quota actually is, with one camp arguing Sony could just hit the number through free giveaways or console bundles, and another countering that doing so would fail to recoup development costs and defeat the purpose. It’s also worth noting that the contract isn’t tied to Wolverine alone — it only requires that one of three flagship titles, including other X-Men-related projects, meet the threshold, a detail easy to misread as applying to Wolverine specifically. Whether this squares with Sony’s recently stated shift away from exclusivity was another point of discussion.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Hardware/Industry (Gaming)) thread “Sony’s Wolverine Will Have Its Marvel Contract Terminated If It Doesn’t Sell 6 Million Units.”

  • Daisuke Hori Deletes ‘Short Sleeper’ Label After Getting Caught Dozing Off on Livestream — 5ch: ‘So It Was Just Something You Quit?’

Businessman Daisuke Hori (42) has built his public persona around being a “short sleeper” who has supposedly gotten by on just 30 minutes of sleep a day for 17 years, running a paid training program as head of the Japan Short Sleeper Training Association. But during a week-long YouTube livestream starting September 9, he was repeatedly caught snoring and appearing to doze off mid-treatment. After the stream ended, it emerged that his profile had been quietly changed from “short sleeper” to “sleep however much you want,” fueling speculation on 5ch that he’d quietly dropped the whole act. The stream also had an incident where his lower body was accidentally shown on camera, and data from a smart ring reportedly showed his actual average sleep time was just 52 minutes a day — sparking a debate over what’s really true.

Businessman Daisuke Hori (42) is known as a “short sleeper” who claims to have lived on just 30 minutes of sleep a day for 17 years. He also serves as head of the general incorporated association “Japan Short Sleeper Training Association,” promoting his own custom-developed sleep-improvement program, which he says has trained more than 2,500 students to date.

Hori ran a week-long livestream on his own YouTube channel starting September 9, titled “The Daily Life of Short Sleeper Daisuke Hori.” Thanks to that stream, he’s now become impossible to avoid on social media — though not necessarily for the reasons he’d hoped.

“Over the week-long stream, one mishap after another piled up. First, on day two, he was caught snoring on camera in full view during a head-spa massage treatment. In later broadcasts, Hori repeatedly showed clear signs of drowsiness, and screenshots of him visibly straining to keep his heavy eyelids open — looking like he was at his absolute limit — began circulating on social media.

He reportedly tried to excuse it by saying the camera was just flipped, but both cameras were caught flipped, so he definitely took it off.

    Background and points of contention

“Short sleeper” is generally understood as a trait confirmed in only a tiny handful of people with a rare physical constitution, and there’s little scientific backing for the claim that it can be acquired through training. As head of his association, Hori ran a paid training program built on the claim of having trained over 2,500 students. The dozing caught on camera during this livestream, together with the smart-ring data showing just how little he actually slept, has only deepened doubts about that core premise. Opinion on the thread is split — some see the wording change as proof he’s quietly dropped the claim, while others defend him, pointing out that anything under six hours technically fits the definition. As for whether the on-stream exposure was an accident or staged, the article’s information alone isn’t enough to say for sure.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

“Magical Brain Power!!” and “Quiz World is SHOW by Shobai!!” were flagship quiz shows Nippon TV ran during the Heisei era, with the latter having started as an in-house project built specifically to compete with the inter-show tournament specials aired by Fuji and TBS. In the thread, viewers who remembered the era filled in details like the 1991 shift from a standalone show to the multi-show crossover format “Super Quiz Special.” Opinions split over whether to view these revivals of old content as “a format with steady demand among longtime fans” or as “a life-support measure by old media that can no longer produce new content.” Some also pointed out that nostalgia-driven content is thriving on streaming platforms too, suggesting this isn’t unique to TV networks. The special in question is scheduled to air October 2, with Kiyotaka Nanbara as tournament chairman and Kazunari Ninomiya as MC.

  • Concern Grows Over Nagura Jun’s Health After ‘Blank-Faced’ Moment on Shabekuri007 — 5ch: “Something’s Not Right”

Jun Nagura (57) of the comedy trio Neptune drew attention on social media after appearing blank-faced and stepping away to the restroom during filming of the September 14 broadcast of ‘Shabekuri007,’ sparking a wave of concern for his health on 5ch as well. Nagura has long been rumored to suffer from a herniated disc in his neck, and it’s also widely known that his older brother received an 8-year prison sentence for assault and other charges in 2023. Beyond simple worry over his health, the thread saw a mix of reactions — including suspicion about how the show was edited and comments about his chemistry with co-stars.

    Background and Key Points

Jun Nagura also had a period around 2011 when health issues reduced his public appearances, which is why viewers who remember that are voicing renewed concern now. His older brother’s assault case already resulted in an 8-year prison sentence handed down by the Kobe District Court in May 2023 — that’s already-reported, public information. On the other hand, theories floated in the thread, such as a relapse of depression or medication side effects, are purely viewer speculation; no official explanation has come from Nagura himself or his agency. Some also questioned the show’s editing choices, and this mix of genuine health concern and frustration with the production is what characterizes how reactions spread this time.

  • Yuki Uchida: “I Don’t Want to Work Anymore” — Husband/Manager Takashi Kashiwabara’s Script-Change Demands Spark Controversy

Yuki Uchida (50) is starring in a Fuji TV drama series for the first time in 30 years — “Last Note” — which airs its final episode on September 17. The household viewership rating plunged from 5% for the premiere to 3.2% by episode two, and has continued to languish around 3% ever since. According to a source close to the production, Takashi Kashiwabara, who is both Uchida’s husband and her manager, has reportedly been demanding script changes on set, leaving Fuji TV staff at a loss over how to handle it. On 5ch, reactions were split, mixing doubts about the quality of Fuji TV’s scripts with comments aimed at Kashiwabara himself.

“I Don’t Want to Work With Yuki Uchida Anymore” — Fuji TV Insiders Troubled… Behind the Scenes: Manager-Husband Takashi Kashiwabara’s “Script Change Demands”

On September 17, “Last Note,” Yuki Uchida’s (50) first starring role in a Fuji TV drama series in 30 years, reaches its final episode.

“The household rating for the premiere was 5%, but it plunged to 3.2% by episode two, and it’s stayed stuck around 3% ever since. Fuji TV had high hopes for this one — last year’s ‘Zoku Zoku Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi,’ which also starred Uchida, opened at 9.4% and held strong in the 7% range, so the contrast is stark…” (a source close to the production)

Background and Key Points of This Story

Compared to last year’s “Zoku Zoku Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi” (also starring Uchida, which opened at 9.4% and held in the 7% range), this time “Last Note” saw its rating plunge from 5% at the premiere to 3.2% by episode two — and that steep drop is what kicked off this story. The article’s central claim, the “demand for script changes,” rests on the testimony of an anonymous production source; neither Uchida nor her agency has confirmed the specifics of the demand or the facts behind it. Reactions on 5ch ranged from doubts about the quality of Fuji TV’s scripts to comments targeting manager Takashi Kashiwabara personally, though a fair amount of that was thinly-sourced speculation, and such posts have been excluded from this article. Kashiwabara has a history as an actor, but his current, specific role could not be confirmed within the scope of this article.

    Okay, decision made.
I'm taking Kiki-chan home with me.
    52AnonymousSep 17, 2026 20:22
Please stop making Fuku-chan cry like this
    53AnonymousSep 17, 2026 20:23
Fukumura asked fans for input on how to get people out to livehouse shows, then never actually did anything with it.
Guess she caved to all those harsh comments.

Even the ones who aren't singing are probably on stage the whole time as backup dancers, right?
That's probably why there's a mountain of choreography to memorize.

    Re: #72
As a fan that makes me thrilled, but
that sounds brutal for the members.
    73AnonymousSep 17, 2026 21:03
Not trying to be weird here, but
I always pictured Fuku-chan's place as basically a whole floor of some ultra-luxury condo, like the Johnny's Harajuku dorm (the talent agency's shared trainee housing).
Even if it's not her own room, you'd think there'd be plenty of full-length mirrors around…
don't tell me she's started living alone?

    Re: #73
Never mind that, just go buy your tickets already.
    Three shows minimum.
    79AnonymousSep 17, 2026 21:12
Once the first show wraps and everyone reads the reports, fans will scramble for tickets and it'll be too late.

It's that competitive, huh… I'd better hurry for real.

Background and key points of the debate

“M-line Special” is a Hello! Project unit project spanning multiple groups. As mentioned in reply #4, the autumn tour is indeed scheduled for October 11 and November 7 at Shinjuku ReNY and November 1 at Kashiwa PALOOZA, with second-round advance ticket sales opening at 18:00 on September 17. What divided the thread was how to interpret the reason Fukumura Seira and the other member were shown in tears. Some took the cynical view that she was “just out of shape from a long stretch of solo work,” while others defended her, arguing that “life outside Tsubaki Factory, where she was more sheltered, is simply tougher” — and some posters even floated the idea that the video was edited for documentary-style effect. The other sticking point was the venue format: some fans said they’d skip the shows since livehouses are mostly standing-room, while others welcomed the chance to get up close and wave their penlights. Worth noting: the video itself never explains the reason for the tears, so specifics like poor physical condition or brutal choreography remain speculation within the thread.
