  • That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: ‘2000-Year Loop’ Twist Has 5ch Live-Reaction Thread Crying ‘This Is Hell’

In the anime That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Chloe and Hinata time-leap 2000 years into the past, repeating a loop while keeping their consciousness intact until the sealed Chronoa awakens. On 5ch’s live-reaction thread, some said “staying sane through 2000 years is worse hell than Re:Zero’s Subaru,” while others pointed out that the series already features characters like the True Dragons and the Primordials who live far longer than 2000 years, and that Awakened Heroes also stop aging — so the number actually fits the story’s own timeline, splitting opinion. Fans who’ve read the source material also weighed in on how Chloe and Hinata’s souls and bodies are being handled, the power ranking between the True Dragons and the Primordials, and how the Shion vs. Razul fight is being treated.

Pretty sure it was King Gazel who said you're free to call yourself a hero, but once you do, you get dragged into a hero's karma.

    That'd be Masayuki.
    11AnonymousSep 6, 2026 01:16
So does that mean Chloe technically has two souls existing at once — from when she was born on Earth until she got warped over?
They seem to rule out parallel worlds, but if it's a separate world, could a parallel soul still exist there?

    Well, obviously.

Maybe there's some kind of holding space where a soul that's been sent over waits temporarily.
And when time rewinds, that space rewinds along with it.
    25AnonymousSep 6, 2026 04:52
Looping 2000 years while staying fully conscious sounds like flat-out hell, worse than Subaru from Re:Zero…
Couldn't they have picked a slightly more realistic number of years?
    27AnonymousSep 6, 2026 05:07
    Re: #25
This series already has plenty of nonhuman characters who've lived way longer than 2000 years anyway.
And apparently even humans stop aging once they become Awakened Heroes, so it's probably a number chosen to balance against Granbell too.

She really is a genuinely good person — she founded a religion to protect humanity, and it was someone else who twisted the doctrine into monster-persecution.
Though she's probably into Chloe and Hinata romantically.

Wouldn't the 'hell level' be different for a long-lived race versus someone who used to be Japanese, looping again like that?
Though a year in this world might not equal a year on Earth.

    Re: #32
I get where you're coming from, but I think the strong ones in this world are mentally far tougher than people in reality.
Realistically, Chloe needed to spend a good number of years before she and Leon even got transported over.
Stuff like Veldora destroying Luminous's capital lines up with roughly 2000 years ago, so I think that number was actually thought through pretty carefully.
    35AnonymousSep 6, 2026 05:52
Grown-up Chloe is way too pretty.

They said two versions of the same person can't exist in the same space-time — but since Hinata died and got sent back 2000 years along with Chloe, wouldn't whichever consciousness (Chloe's or Hinata's) is inside present-day Chronoa come back?
    37AnonymousSep 6, 2026 06:02
    Re: #35
Haven't read the source material, but I'd guess once she wakes up they'll put Hinata's soul back into Hinata's body and revive her.
If so, her mind would've matured roughly 2000 years' worth by the time she's revived.
    38AnonymousSep 6, 2026 06:24
Even if she's revived, isn't there no body to put her in?
Yuuki's got Chloe's body, but there's no body for Hinata.
    78AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:20
    Re: #38
As for a body, Rimuru's got plenty of Material Bodies stocked up, and he can make more.
He's already given physical bodies to Veldora, Ifrit, the Primordials, and other demons.
Hinata's a saint, and after 2000 years she's probably become a spiritual life-form like the elementals and demons.

It's cool that 'Chronoa' became the name for the Skill, but why is its nature 'the will of destruction'?

    46AnonymousSep 6, 2026 06:55
    Re: #43
There seem to be all sorts of theories floating around, but basically it's either the buildup of negative emotion from looping over and over,
or Chronoa's will unconsciously trying to protect the sleeping consciousness/souls of Chloe and Hinata,
or some combination of the above.
    47AnonymousSep 6, 2026 06:55

    74AnonymousSep 6, 2026 08:58
There were bits that bugged me, but I was watching along thinking 'this is put together pretty carefully for a Narou series' (Narou = the web-novel site/genre known for formulaic isekai stories)… and then they suddenly kick off a time-loop arc. Kind of a bummer.
    85AnonymousSep 6, 2026 09:42
    Re: #74
It's not really that sudden, though.
Ramiris already said, back at the Spirits' Den, that the thing possessing Chloe came from the future, and in the side story Noir saw right through the fact that Shizu's mask transcended time.
    89AnonymousSep 6, 2026 10:13

But just becoming an Awakened Demon Lord alone should've bumped his odds of surviving up quite a bit compared to before.
    109AnonymousSep 6, 2026 11:36
Doesn't Chloe go insane from repeating a 2000-year loop?
    111AnonymousSep 6, 2026 11:40
    Re: #109
    Same thought here.
Not sure if it's just that Chloe's mental fortitude is freakishly strong, or if some kind of power/authority is propping her up.
    115AnonymousSep 6, 2026 11:47
    Re: #109 Re: #111
Maybe she really is cracking and piling up negative emotions, but it's all draining into Chronoa, which is what lets Chloe stay sane.
Or the other way around — maybe Chronoa's absorbed so much of it that it's turned into an embodiment of evil. Just speculating.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime started out as a popular web novel, and the anime is currently adapting a later part of the source material — the time-leap episode tied to Yuuki and Hinata. The thread’s disagreement centered on two main points. First was the weight of the ‘loop 2000 years while staying fully conscious’ setup: some invoked Re:Zero and called it ‘hell,’ while others countered that the series already has plenty of characters — like the True Dragons and the Primordials — who’ve lived far longer than 2000 years, and that since Awakened Heroes also stop aging, the number actually matches the story’s own timescale, offering a defense of the choice. Second was how Chloe and Hinata’s souls and bodies are being handled: the rule that two souls can’t exist in the same space-time at once, and the true identity of the sealed Chronoa (whether it holds Chloe’s or Hinata’s consciousness), were hard to follow for those who haven’t read the source material. Some also pointed out that earlier remarks from Ramiris and Noir had already hinted at the time-leap, suggesting it was foreshadowed rather than out of nowhere. Note that all of this is fan speculation about in-story lore, not confirmed information.

  • Fukushi Ochiai’s Dad Called Him at 8 AM Before His Ryotsu Kankichi Casting Went Public — 5ch: “The Three Great Ochiais”

Oricon News reported that voice actor Fukushi Ochiai, cast as Ryotsu Kankichi in the new “Kochikame” anime, was grilled over the phone by his father, former baseball star Hiromitsu Ochiai, at 8 AM before the casting was officially announced — and played dumb rather than spill the news. On the thread, speculation flew that the information might have leaked through some other route, while plenty of commenters also reminisced about how Fukushi, once known for his delinquent behavior, worked hard to become a voice actor and ended up where he is today. Mixed in with lighter jokes like “the Three Great Ochiais,” the topic took off as a bit of a family affair.

I thought the new Ryotsu and Bucho sound kind of similar.

Reiko and Nakagawa are good though — "good" meaning they resemble their predecessors without being straight impressions, a nice balance.
Still, Fuji TV anime tends to be way better at picking replacement cast than NTV or TV Asahi, so I think this one will settle in fine too.
    36AnonymousSep 5, 2026 13:56
Same with Kazushige — turns out he was better suited to being a TV personality than a baseball player (Kazushige Nagashima, son of legendary player Shigeo Nagashima)

    Re: #36
He's a voice actor, so comparing him to Kazushige is a bit off, but
think about Rakutaro's son, or Yoshihiko Takahashi's daughter, or Carp's Ogata's daughter — they're voice actors too but never really broke out, so maybe what Fukushi's done here is actually impressive.
    47AnonymousSep 5, 2026 14:00

    80AnonymousSep 5, 2026 14:16
    Re: #72
Apparently having a kid is what changed him.
He was basically a NEET up until then, then suddenly decided to become a voice actor, enrolled in a trade school, and studied from scratch to get where he is now.
Sounds like he wanted to show his kid that he actually has a job and works for a living.
    73AnonymousSep 5, 2026 14:11
Ochiai seems like the type who'd read Kochikame, so he was probably thrilled.
Actually, among baseball players of his generation, it'd be rarer to find one who HASN'T read Kochikame.

    Re: #73
I mean, do you really think some guy in his 70s would be among the first to get wind of a Kochikame anime adaptation?

That's great — after grinding through background roles all this time, he finally made it.
    90AnonymousSep 5, 2026 14:22
    Re: #87
His actual first lead role was in "Gurazeni."
It aired on BS Sky PerfecTV, so it's a bit of a hidden gem only die-hards know about.

    Background and Key Points

This episode is also a good example of just how tightly information gets locked down before an anime casting reveal. Voice actor casting is typically kept secret from everyone involved until the official announcement date — and family members are said to be no exception. Fukushi Ochiai is the son of former professional baseball player Hiromitsu Ochiai; known for delinquent behavior in his younger days, he decided to pursue voice acting after getting married and having a child, studying the craft from scratch at a vocational school. While the thread is full of talk about a “culprit” who leaked the information, it’s worth noting the article never actually confirms anyone deliberately leaked anything — that remains pure speculation. Some commenters also flagged inconsistencies in the recording’s audio quality, but these are just first impressions right after release and may not reflect the final finished product.

    Background and Points of Debate

The “Zeta Gundam” movie trilogy, commonly known as the “Shinyaku” (New Translation) version, was released in theaters from 2005 to 2006 as a re-edit of the TV series that originally aired in 1985. Director Yoshiyuki Tomino himself added new footage, and changed the ending so that Kamille no longer suffers a mental breakdown. What split opinion on the thread was how to judge this change — some favored the original’s bitter ending, while others appreciated the more redemptive conclusion of the movie version. It was also pointed out that “Mobile Suit ZZ Gundam,” the sequel series, isn’t included in this broadcast lineup, meaning viewers who only watch the movies may find some characters’ backgrounds hard to follow. “Char’s Counterattack,” released in theaters in 1988, is an original theatrical work that serves as the definitive conclusion to the series.

  • Manga you didn’t know ran in Weekly Shonen Jump: 5ch says ‘Barefoot Gen was originally meant to be a battle manga’

A thread rounding up manga that surprise people once they learn they actually ran in Weekly Shonen Jump — titles like “Barefoot Gen” and “Gutsy Frog.” One after another, works came up that are strongly associated with other magazines or that nobody ever thinks about in terms of which magazine serialized them, including City Hunter, Cat’s Eye, Midori no Makibao, Astro Kyudan, Samurai Giants, and Death Note. Opinions were especially split over “Barefoot Gen”: one comment pointed out that at the start of its run it wasn’t meant as peace education at all but was on a battle/gag-manga track, while others pushed back that given the author’s intent, it’s a stretch to claim the work was ever free of political overtones.

    Re: #91

Looks like it ended pretty fast though… 😢

    Background and points of debate

“Barefoot Gen” began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1973. While it drew on the author’s own wartime experience from the start, its early chapters carried battle-manga and gag-manga elements. After its run in Jump ended, the series moved to other outlets such as “Shimin” and “Bunka Hyoron,” and it was there that its anti-war, anti-nuclear message grew stronger. The thread’s disagreement boiled down to a single question: did the series carry political intent from the very start of its serialization? One camp argued that, since the work is grounded in the author’s lived experience, its political character can’t be separated out even from the beginning; the other argued that its style shifted only after it changed magazines. Also striking is the gap with today’s image of Jump — cases like “City Hunter” and “Cat’s Eye,” where the magazine’s image doesn’t match its actual readership, and Showa-era hot-blooded sports manga like “Astro Kyudan” and “Samurai Giants” that once ran there too.

  • ‘Kochikame’ Gets New Anime — Fukushi Ochiai Cast as Ryotsu, Shota Aoi as Nakagawa

A cast announcement has been made for the new “Kochikame” anime: Fukushi Ochiai will voice Ryotsu Kankichi, Shota Aoi will voice Nakagawa Keiichi, M・A・O will voice Akimoto Reiko, and Raiko Sakamoto will voice the Chief. On the 5ch Geinou/Sports News+ board, some commenters said Rasal Ishii’s voice — who played Ryotsu for years in the original — left such a strong impression that they can’t warm up to the new cast, while others questioned whether a remake was even necessary. Still others brought up past remakes like Rurouni Kenshin and Hunter x Hunter, comparing how well those turned out.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

“Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo” (commonly known as Kochikame) ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1976 to 2016, and its TV anime aired from 1996 to 2004, with Rasal Ishii voicing Ryotsu Kankichi for the entire run — cementing that voice in viewers’ memory. With the newly announced anime, the main cast has been completely replaced, and the thread’s split opinions on the new cast largely stem from how strong an impression the original left. Beyond Kochikame itself, commenters also brought up past remakes such as Rurouni Kenshin and Hunter x Hunter, comparing how well re-animating a beloved series tends to be received. Since Fukushi Ochiai is the son of baseball player Hiromitsu Ochiai, some comments focused more on his background and related trivia than on the casting decision itself — a mix of show commentary and personal interest in the celebrities involved that stood out in this thread.

    Background and Key Points

Prime Video competes with Netflix, Hulu, and U-NEXT in Japan’s domestic streaming market, and aims to solidify its subscriber base by rolling out buzzworthy original titles. The HBO Max integration mentioned in the thread, launching in October, is part of Amazon’s push to expand its lineup by bringing in overseas studio content, and will require an extra fee even for existing members. “The Apothecary Diaries” is based on a popular novel/anime series; its screenwriter, Erika Yoshida, is also known for the “Bocchi the Rock” anime adaptation, though she previously drew attention for comments about the source material’s depictions — fueling interest in this live-action version as well. In the thread, many voiced the view that Amazon’s past originals have been “hit or miss,” sparking discussion that went beyond simple like-or-dislike reactions.

  • Hana to Yume Accidentally Reprints Manga That Already Ran, Publisher Hakusensha Apologizes — 5ch: “How Do You Not Notice Until It’s Printed?”

On September 4, publisher Hakusensha announced that the latest issue (No. 19) of the shojo manga magazine Hana to Yume had accidentally reprinted “Nekomata from America” by Konohana Takami with the exact same content as a previous issue, and apologized to readers and the author. The company cited an editorial mishap as the cause. On 5ch, threads filled with questions about how such an error could make it all the way to print, with reactions split between comparisons to past similar mistakes and debate over whether the editor in charge had actually checked the manuscript.

    Fri, Sep 4, 12:59 PM

Hakusensha announced on its official website on the 4th that an error had occurred in issue No. 19 of the shojo manga magazine Hana to Yume, released that same day, in which a previously published work was mistakenly run again.

The work in question is “Nekomata from America” by Konohana Takami. The editorial department explained that due to an editing mishap, the piece — already published once before — was printed a second time.

Oh, and more recently there's Please Save My Earth too — that's Hana to Yume, right?

    Background and Key Points

Between submission and publication, magazines normally go through multiple checkpoints — color proofs and final proofs reviewed by the editor in charge and by copy editors. This error suggests that somewhere along that process, data from a past issue was reused or overlooked, though Hakusensha’s announcement doesn’t specify the exact cause. The “back-to-back reprinting” of Fullmetal Alchemist’s finale that came up in the thread was actually a deliberate rerun by the editorial staff after the issue sold out — a different situation in nature from today’s plain mistake, and one that’s easy to conflate with it. Meanwhile, the side chat about how to read “既出” (kishutsu, “already posted”) is an unrelated tangent that should be read separately from the article’s real subject: the problems with the magazine’s editorial checks. It’s also worth noting that a comment claiming Hana to Yume has a circulation of around 40,000 copies is just a reader’s guess, not an official figure.

  • ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ Premieres October 11 — Web Divided Over the ‘Enhanced Version’

The “Enhanced Version” of Dragon Ball Super — rebuilt from the late Akira Toriyama’s original story with new cuts and a complete re-shoot — titled “Dragon Ball Super: Beerus,” begins airing on the Fuji TV network in the late-night slot starting October 11. Megatera Zero will perform the opening theme, and Vickeblanka the ending theme. Reactions on 5ch were split: some praised the late-night broadcast slot, while others voiced complaints like “it’s just a rehash of the same story” and “they should remake it faithful to the manga,” with plenty of comments also touching on voice-actor turnover and succession concerns.

    9/3 (Thu) 8:00

It has been revealed that “Dragon Ball Super: Beerus,” a TV anime in the “Dragon Ball” series based on the late Akira Toriyama’s popular manga, will air on the Fuji TV network on October 11 at 11:15 PM. Thirty minutes after the broadcast ends, it will stream first on Prime Video and U-NEXT. “Dragon Ball Super: Beerus” is an “Enhanced Version” of “Dragon Ball Super.” “Enhanced” means “to elevate, strengthen, or improve.” The series adds a large number of new cuts, redraws existing ones, re-shoots every single cut, and reconstructs the story with new dubbing, including added score and sound effects.

A key visual for Super’s opening has been released, showing the God of Destruction Beerus flashing a fearless smile as he sets his sights on taking over Earth, alongside Son Goku and Frieza. The opening trailer, built entirely from newly created footage, features Goku and Beerus along with Frieza, formidable new adversaries, and characters who hold the key to the story. It was also announced that singer-songwriter Megatera Zero will perform the opening theme “Onogami,” while singer-songwriter Vickeblanka will perform the ending theme “Kanpeki no Peki.”

I think opinions differ depending on whether you watched it live from the start or discovered it later. Dragon Ball originally started as a gag-filled adventure manga, and people who watched it in real time enjoyed it as such — but for people who started around the Saiyan arc onward, Dragon Ball is seen as a battle manga, so there's less room for them to accept the adventure/comedy side.

Background and Key Points of This Story

The “Enhanced Version” isn’t a new story arc — it reconstructs the existing “Dragon Ball Super” by adding new cuts, re-shooting every cut, and redoing the sound, while the story itself remains unchanged. Akira Toriyama passed away suddenly in 2024, and the unease over new material continuing without the original creator is reflected in thread comments like “they should remake it faithful to the source material” and “it’s basically like fan-made content.” Also, without knowing the backstory of how the titles branched into “Z,” “Super,” “GT,” and “DAIMA,” a breakdown like comment #63 can be hard to follow. Note that the voice-actor turnover isn’t something stated in the article itself — it remains pure speculation within the thread.

    Re: #69
If anywhere, it'd make sense to build it in Aichi, Toriyama's hometown
    No real competition there either

Background and Key Points of This Story

Toei Animation’s denial that it “never granted approval” means no licensing agreement is currently in place — this article alone doesn’t clarify whether the theme park plan itself has been cancelled. As for precedent involving Japanese characters being used overseas without authorization, the case of Thailand’s Chaiyo Productions is well known: the company claimed rights to Ultraman and ended up in a years-long legal dispute with Tsuburaya Productions, and several thread comments drew comparisons to that case. At the same time, a number of posts in the thread lump France, South Korea, and China together under a blanket “copycat culture” label — but that’s a separate issue from the actual point of contention here, which is the procedural failure to confirm rights before making a public announcement, and the two should be read separately. Meanwhile, the observation that “Japan itself doesn’t even have an official Dragon Ball park” is accurate — there is currently no large-scale, permanent theme park in Japan dedicated to Weekly Shonen Jump properties.

  • Dragon Ball Super ‘Beerus Arc’ New Anime Trailer Unveiled — 5ch: ‘Beerus Is Huge Overseas’

A thread on 5ch’s “Anything-Goes Live” board lit up over news that a trailer had dropped for a newly animated version of the Beerus arc from Dragon Ball Super. Rather than being a totally new story, it’s reportedly a "remaster" project that redraws the original’s animation and direction using the latest technology. The broadcast slot appears to be the one currently occupied by One Piece, and the thread filled up with questions like “why remake it now?” and “what happens to One Piece’s timeslot?” Posters also discussed just how popular Lord Beerus is, and how this differs from Dragon Ball DAIMA, Akira Toriyama’s posthumous work.

The broadcast slot is the one currently used by One Piece

    Not Daima, but Super? Why?

    Re: #5
Daima, aimed at little kids, is already flopping based on the buzz.
If that's the case, they're shifting toward hooking the fans from back then instead.
    12AnonymousSep 3, 2026 07:45
Whoa~! I want to see more of Lord Beerus in action~! How many people are actually out there saying that?
    26AnonymousSep 3, 2026 07:55
    Re: #12
    Beerus is popular, you know.
    Especially overseas.
    14AnonymousSep 3, 2026 07:48
By the way, production of the Galactic Patrol arc was already announced before this.
    104AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:54
    Re: #14
Guess they want to do a refresher before that airs.
A lot of people have forgotten this arc anyway.
    17AnonymousSep 3, 2026 07:50
    What about DAIMA?
It's the posthumous work Toriyama himself made — the one you all wanted, remember?
    80AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:29
    Re: #17
He barely had any hand in it himself, but I bet you'd find the same claims written about DQ/FF stuff too (Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy — franchises where he contributed character designs).
Besides, he's from an era before he could've grown as an artist, no way he could draw manga at today's level.
    20AnonymousSep 3, 2026 07:51
What's going to happen to One Piece?
Don't tell me it's going on hiatus again.
One Piece's whole value was airing all year round — is even that last stronghold going to crumble?
    21AnonymousSep 3, 2026 07:51
    Re: #20
Isn't it better to go on hiatus and stockpile episodes than to air something that looks like a slideshow?
    22AnonymousSep 3, 2026 07:52
I was hoping for Jujutsu Kaisen-level quality, but this isn't even close.
    Toei really is garbage.
    24AnonymousSep 3, 2026 07:55
    Re: #22
    Well, they're calling this a remaster, so…
The real question is what happens with Galactic Patrol.
    23AnonymousSep 3, 2026 07:54
Honestly there's not enough demand to justify a full remake of Super.
Unless they're planning to write Zeno out of existence.
    29AnonymousSep 3, 2026 07:57
    Re: #23
If Zeno didn't exist, how would they even beat Fused Zamasu?
    30AnonymousSep 3, 2026 07:58
If you want good animation, just watch the movies.
Why bother making a downgraded TV version after the movie, and now remaster that too lol
    37AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:03
    Re: #30
The movie's animation was pretty mediocre too, honestly…
Also the movies are officially classified as Dragon Ball Z, so maybe they wanted a fresh start under the Super banner.
    33AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:00
Wait, this isn't a continuation of Super, it's a redo?
    35AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:02
    Re: #33
    Yeah, a redo.
They're using Super as the base, swapping out the parts with bad animation, and beefing up the direction with the latest tech.
    41AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:08
Not sure how far they'll take it, but if they remake the Future Trunks arc, I'm fine with that.
    46AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:10
    Re: #41
Fix the ending first — this comes up every time.
    47AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:10
    Re: #41
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they just animate all the way through Broly and roll straight into Galactic Patrol.
    55AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:13
    Re: #41
    They're not doing a remake.
They specifically said it's just fixing up Super's animation and direction, plus adding extra cuts.
    42AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:09
    Isn't the character design off?
Goku's all lean and toned, zero presence at all.
    49AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:11
    Re: #42
He slims down in God form.
He goes back to normal from Blue onward.
    44AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:10
Why redo an episode they already made instead of doing new content?
Did someone with rights to the original screw something up or what?
    53AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:12
    Re: #44
    They're doing new episodes too.
Remastering is a classic Toei move — they do it with One Piece all the time.
    51AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:11
A strong guy shows up → punch and kick your way to victory → an even stronger guy shows up.
There's basically no story, it's just been this loop forever.
    56AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:13
    Re: #51
And now you've got angels and gods, even stronger guys just smirking and watching from the sidelines, so even that basic formula is dead.
    72AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:27
How far are they taking this? Up to Frieza? 🤫
    77AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:28
    Re: #72
Probably at least up through Hit.
    86AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:36
I always think this, but isn't it way too soon for a remake?

I'd get it if it were "redoing a great story that got ruined by bad anime," or "remaking that legendary anime with modern technology,"

but the Beerus arc wasn't some terrible flop back then, and there hasn't been some huge tech leap that would drastically change the animation either.
So what's the actual point of this?
    88AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:38
    Re: #86
Go look up the animation collapse from the Dragon Ball Super anime.
    92AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:42
Super characters are hugely popular in the Dragon Ball mobile gacha games, you know.
    94AnonymousSep 3, 2026 08:44
    Re: #92
Yeah, like half the anniversary headline characters are from Super.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Dragon Ball Super was a TV anime that aired from 2015 to 2018, and its animation collapsing in certain episodes was repeatedly a topic of discussion. What’s been announced this time isn’t a completely new series, but appears to be a "remaster" project redoing the Beerus arc from back then with up-to-date animation and direction — a different undertaking from Dragon Ball DAIMA, the new series based on notes Akira Toriyama left behind before his passing. Reports that the broadcast slot overlaps with One Piece’s timeslot sparked worry about the impact on One Piece’s long-running broadcast schedule, but remastering is itself a technique Toei Animation has used before, and some believe it will run alongside production of new episodes. Some voiced concern about the aging voice cast, but it’s worth noting that no official announcement of a cast change has been made.
