Rush the comeback and this is the kind of injury that becomes chronic
Let's just leave the Asian Cup to Tanimura

Probably an injury nobody's really seen before
Can't tell if it's minor or serious

Re: #37
It's a tear in the arch of the foot.
You can't even walk at first, and starting rehab probably isn't possible until he's recovered quite a bit.
39AnonymousOct 17, 2026 10:51
Ugh, it's over

It's not uncommon for full recovery to take six months to over a year. Specialized treatments like extracorporeal shockwave therapy, PRP therapy, and in some cases surgery may need to be considered.

Re: #39
Even if he comes back, this seems like the type of injury that could recur lol
He's on the Tomiyasu track (Tomiyasu Takehiro, known for chronic recurring injuries)
41AnonymousOct 17, 2026 10:51
Would've been better off staying cozy in the Netherlands lol

Ugh, his whole game was built on speed, and now that's gone ^^
He's in his 30s too, so maybe this is the beginning of the end
46AnonymousOct 17, 2026 10:51
Ugh
Guess his peak is over
Kubo's been pretty much nothing since he got hurt at the World Cup too
48AnonymousOct 17, 2026 10:52
The entire first-choice front line — striker and both shadow forwards — is gone now
49AnonymousOct 17, 2026 10:53
Worst case, does a tear like this take a year to fully heal?
50AnonymousOct 17, 2026 10:53
As replacements for Ueda, maybe Ogawa, Machino, Goto, or Shiogai?
80AnonymousOct 17, 2026 11:01
Re: #50
None of them can replace him
52AnonymousOct 17, 2026 10:53
I've had this injury too — took over a month to fully heal
53AnonymousOct 17, 2026 10:54
He was on a crazy hot streak lately
Maybe that was his last shining moment
55AnonymousOct 17, 2026 10:54
So does this mean a Japanese Premier League top scorer is off the table for another 50 years?… guess I'll be an old lady by then lol

Background and Talking Points

A torn plantar fascia is a relatively rare injury involving a rupture of the tendon-like tissue that supports the arch of the foot, and in some cases it can make walking itself difficult; full recovery is said to sometimes take six months to over a year. Unlike sprains or muscle strains, it’s an area even players themselves rarely have experience with, which is why some in the thread said they “can’t tell if it’s mild or serious.” The manager who spoke at the press conference, Davide Ancelotti, is the son of legendary coach Carlo Ancelotti and the current Lille manager. Since Ueda was injured while racking up goals and raising his stock in this season’s Champions League, the thread also brought up possible replacements for Japan’s starting striker spot (names like Ogawa, Machino, Goto, and Shiogai came up). That said, the severity of the injury and his return timeline haven’t been officially confirmed yet, so it’s worth noting that a tear doesn’t automatically mean a guaranteed year on the sidelines.
