Hanshin’s Bats Go Silent as DeNA Takes Control — 5ch Asks: ‘How Is This Lineup Supposed to Score 3 Runs???’

From our other sites

The story

On 5ch’s live-commentary thread, attention focused on the late-game back-and-forth between Hanshin and DeNA. Hanshin’s lineup struggled to score, and a string of posts questioned the manager’s decision to call for a bunt from Sano. Meanwhile, DeNA fans kept firing off posts mocking Hanshin as “Chin-kasu” (a long-running derogatory nickname for the Tigers), and the thread overall leaned heavily in DeNA’s favor. Alongside the live play-by-play, posters also debated the pros and cons of the Climax Series format itself, making this a thread where game commentary and system-level griping unfolded side by side.

22AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:57
Thought the ground-rule double had saved us, but then…
23AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:57
How is this lineup supposed to score 3 runs????
30AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:58
Funny how it's Dowaki, Maki, and Sano — the guys 'our team' (Giants fans, joking) kept nice and warm — sealing the win 😂
31AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:58
Today's the wake, tomorrow's the funeral for those damn Chin-kasu bastardssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!
34AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:58
If one run means a loss, you gotta feel bad for Saiki too.
35AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:58
Calling for a bunt here? Bunting must be baked into their DNA at this point.
37AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:58
What was the point of that first-inning bunt?
38AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:58
Makes you wonder why the BayStars are so weak over a full pennant race, by contrast.
39AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:58
What the—
Looked away for one second and they'd already scored 3?
40AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:59
Aikawa, the guy who had Sano bunt — we'd probably have 6 runs in by now.
41AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:59
Saiki's heading to the majors next season anyway lolololololol
43AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:59
Got a question for the anti-Climax-Series crowd —

Which team actually makes for a higher-level Japan Series?
48AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:01
Re: #43
Level has nothing to do with it — the Japan Series should be between the two first-place teams.
Whether Hanshin wins or our team wins, this garbage system needs to be scrapped.
45AnonymousOct 16, 2026 18:59
Stay away from anything 'Made in Hanshin' lol𐤔lol𐤔lol𐤔lol𐤔
46AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:01
I could already picture pinch-hitter Morishita hitting a dramatic go-ahead grand slam.
47AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:01
Gotta manage with some objectivity — even if letting Sano swing away had led to a double play, nobody would've said afterward 'they should've bunted.'
50AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:02
Not a single ball's gone to Tateishi yet — I just wanna see the guy's defense, lol
53AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:03
No question the Climax Series is a trash system, but filling the seats for meaningless end-of-season games has been an unsolved problem for years.
Teams have to pay their players big salaries too, after all.
57AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:03
Re: #53
Just make it a cup tournament, like they do in soccer.
61AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:04
Watching Hanshin down the stretch, even with Sato and Morishita in the lineup they couldn't beat the current BayStars.
But Chin-kasu fans probably convince themselves it's only because Sato and Morishita are out.
65AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:06
Re: #61
They could still win on a fluke.
But without those two, Hanshin doesn't even get the fluke.
62AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:04
Shut down cold by Katayama.
Honestly, with this lineup, anyone on the mound could shut them down.
67AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:06
Re: #62
Even without Mori-Teru in the lineup, he still properly took down the scrub who looked like he might go deep — impressive!
69AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:06
Teru's just chilling on the bench lol
80AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:08
Re: #69
He can declare for the majors sooner than people expected after all.
110AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:15
Whoa, Miyazaki was playing crazy shallow there.
113AnonymousOct 16, 2026 19:17
Re: #110
What even was that shift, lol

Background and Key Points

This thread is titled “Giants Acting Manager,” but the actual subject of the live commentary is the Hanshin-DeNA game — the thread serves as a go-to channel for baseball live-commentary used by fans beyond just Giants supporters, which is why posts like “glad I’m a Giants fan” show up mixed in. Japan’s Climax Series (CS) is a format in which the top three regular-season teams battle it out in a short series for the right to represent their league in the Japan Series; because the regular-season standings and the short-series results don’t always match up, the thread also features criticism of the system itself, with posters arguing the Japan Series “should just be between the two first-place teams.” Also worth noting: “Chin” is a derogatory nickname for Hanshin that has long been entrenched on baseball live-commentary boards — it functions as part of the trash-talk culture aimed at the opposing team rather than an attack on any specific individual or team official, a nuance first-time readers can easily misread.
