The story
On October 16, her 16th birthday, Hello! Project idol Otsuki Nishimura of Tsubaki Factory once again did not post a blog update — and it became a hot topic on 5ch’s Hello! Project board. It marked the second missed update this month, and since many of her fellow members were busy exchanging birthday wishes on Instagram and their blogs, fans began questioning why she hadn’t. Some defended her, citing the pressure and preparation involved in the group’s upcoming first-ever Budokan show, while others argued busyness was no excuse. The thread split between posters who see blog updates as essential to idol culture and those who feel X and Instagram are more than enough.
What people said
Just do something like #KingBirthday2026 on X
Members actually check that stuff a lot
Should we start bracing ourselves for what that means?
That doesn't make up for it
Fans gotta read the room, come on
Exactly
If you want to celebrate her, just do it on X or Instagram
She could use some encouragement from Nishi (short for Nishimura)
Did Ressa get reincarnated or something?
Apparently there were way more than expected

I was surprised there were more female fans than I expected at Otsuki Nishimura's birthday event.

Happy 16th birthday, Otsuki-chan!! 🎉🎂✨♡Happy birthday♡ I'm so moved by the drive and love you put into seeking out and acting on ways to spread the word about how great Tsubaki Factory is!! This Tsubaki BIG LOVE old guy is as happy as can be ("urepiyo" — fan slang for over-the-moon happy)!! Have a wonderful year ahead!!

You've all got jobs or school, plus the pressure and prep that comes with a first Budokan show — could you really manage to post a blog without fail every night or during your lunch break?
I sure couldn't. I'd rather she prepare properly and give us a great show.
Ise and others don't even read blog comments

What does Hayashi have to do with this?
Itsuki© is so girly and cute.
But the other day, out of nowhere, she suddenly started looking like a tiny little animal to me,
and she was so cute I ended up patting her head. Lol
I actually surprised myself, like why would Saori do something like this!!! 😂
But somehow, she's just so cute, you know!!
But until you've actually broken through, views are low and there's no real motivation or point in updating
I bet she'll step it up once she's popular…
Matsukare's only interested in Ebata
Background and Key Points of This Topic
In Hello! Project, each member’s Ameba blog has long served as a primary point of contact with fans, which is why update frequency and whether a comments section is open draw so much scrutiny. The explanation floated in the thread — that she’s busy preparing for her group’s first Budokan show — is pure speculation; she herself has said nothing on the matter. At the same time, she did respond to birthday wishes posted on X that same day, so skipping the blog doesn’t mean she’s gone quiet on social media altogether. The real divide in the thread comes down to differing values: those who hold blog culture central to idol fandom versus those who think X and Instagram are plenty. A few posters also speculated her blog entries might be ghostwritten by staff, though no evidence backed that claim.
