The story

A Famitsu survey published October 16, 2026 found that both Kingdom Hearts Collection and Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen sold more copies in their Switch 2 versions than their PS5 versions that week. Thread posters pointed to the PS5 version of Dogma 2 alone having a lower Metacritic score and its used buyback price dropping by half right after launch as contributing factors, with some praising the Switch 2 version’s reputation for running smoothly even in handheld mode, while others countered that if you already own the base game, you don’t need the old physical package just for DLC.

Here we go

■ Kingdom Hearts Collection

・Switch 2: 23,411 units

Looks like Switch 2 is sweeping every multiplatform title this week.
PS5's barrier-to-entry problem is really showing its true colors now.
6AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:10
Kingdom Hearts losing was already baked in, but now Dogma 2 lost too, huh.
7AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:11
Re: #6
Dogma 2 had warning signs specifically on PS5 — a lower Metascore and a cheap buyback price.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen scores a Metacritic 88! But the PS5 version alone sits at 83 thanks to tons of bugs and freezing 😭

Re: #7
No, YOU'RE the one turning into Dogma, YOOOOOU yourself, waaaaaah! (a joke insult riffing on a meme format where you throw the other guy's words back at him)

I'm cracking up at how neither franchise has any real history on Nintendo hardware.
Guess you've gotta plant the seeds properly ahead of time, huh.
22AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:18
Re: #9
Sure, planting seeds matters, but the field that was already being tended is falling apart.
I guess this just means the player base has aged into "parents" with no time left to actually play games.

Dogma 2 got good buzz for hitting 60fps in Switch 2 handheld mode, while the PS5 version was just a downgraded PC port.
If you're buying it, PC or Switch 2 is the way to go.

People are still comparing physical sales numbers?
98AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:48
Re: #14
PS5's probably losing on digital too, honestly.

Re: #14
Of course we are~?
Obviously.
15AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:16
The PS5 version alone getting its buyback price cut in half on launch day is hilarious.
Maybe it's fallout from PS5 pulling back on physical releases and shelf space drying up.
17AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:16
Re: #15
At this rate it'll probably become unsellable entirely before long.
16AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:16
As for Dogma 2, it's just DLC, so hard to say either way.
18AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:16
Isn't Dragon's Dogma 2 the game where if a party member catches some plague-like disease in town, you end up slaughtering the whole village and the story grinds to a halt?
19AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:17
Onimusha, aaaaah — what was that "this one on the left" thing about? lol
33AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:24
Nintendo fanboys ("nishi," a derisive 5ch term for Switch diehards) always act like DLC doesn't exist, huh.
Maybe it's because Switch mostly just gets ports.
If you already own the original version, you don't need to buy a new physical copy.
34AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:24
Re: #33
I'd get it if not a single console had sold because of Dogma 2, but it's still moving barely-five-digit numbers every week — so are we saying there are literally zero new buyers?

Re: #33
Show me a pic of the Dogma DLC.
With your ID visible, by 8pm.
35AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:25
Dogma 2 losing is a harsh reality, yeah.
Switch 2 had a good reputation for running silky-smooth even in handheld mode.
37AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:26
Re: #35
I had zero interest either, but I bought it after hearing the buzz.
Honestly it looks pretty great and runs smoothly too.
36AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:25
It's probably because if you already own the base game of Dogma 2, you don't need the physical copy.
38AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:27
Re: #36
Then what about Kingdom Hearts? 🤭
44AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:28
Re: #34
You can just buy the base game without waiting for the DLC, right?
Was the base game banned from sale or something?
46AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:29
Re: #44
That's not actually a counterargument to "zero new buyers."
50AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:29
Re: #46
Your post doesn't make any sense lol
58AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:33
Re: #46
What are you even saying?
If the base game wasn't banned from sale, new buyers can just go buy the base game.
48AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:29
The buyback price hasn't moved at all, so used copies of the original version aren't selling either, huh.
51AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:30
Re: #48
Yeah, this is it.
"If you already own it…" is just wishful thinking.
54AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:32
Dogma 2's PS Store ranking is low to begin with, anyway.
61AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:34
Re: #54
It's #2 even counting free-to-play titles, though.
56AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:33
Honestly, Dogma 2's Switch 2 version came up a lot on Twitter, but there was basically zero chatter about the PS5 version — it just wasn't a talking point.
57AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:33
Re: #56
Yeah, the handheld mode got good reviews.
64AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:36
It's weird how the "physical media is dead" camp and the "physical media still matters" camp never actually argue with each other.
66AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:36
Re: #64
For some reason they each seem to be arguing with someone else entirely.
87AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:45
I own a PS5, but I have no interest in Kingdom Hearts.
I bought and played Dogma 2, but I skipped Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen since I already played it back in the day.
Put that money toward new releases instead lol
92AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:46
Re: #87
What do you mean "played it back in the day" when 2: Dark Arisen just came out this month?
99AnonymousOct 16, 2026 07:48
Re: #87
It's honestly embarrassing that you don't even know how to use commas and periods.
Why are you using spaces?
At least use line breaks.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Famitsu’s weekly sales data mainly tallies physical copy sales, so it’s worth noting that digital sales aren’t reflected in these figures. In the thread, the PS5 version of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen scoring an 83 on Metacritic — versus 88 for the Switch 2 version — combined with its used buyback price getting cut in half right after launch, is cited as one factor reinforcing the view that “the port quality was poor.” Meanwhile, the Switch 2 version earned a reputation for running smoothly even in handheld mode, which may have helped drive sales. That said, claims like “there are no new users” are just speculation within the thread, and readers should keep in mind that Famitsu’s data itself only compares physical versions against each other.
