The story

Judgment (Judge Eyes: Shinigami no Yogen), the hit game starring Takuya Kimura, is on sale on Steam at an all-time low of 75% off — just ¥745. The original story comes from Denfaminicogamer. In a thread on 5ch’s “Hardware/Industry (Geha)” board, alongside reactions to the sale itself, users compared this game’s quality to its sequel Lost Judgment, with some pointing out that the series’ quality seems to track directly with how involved director Toshihiro Nagoshi is — opinions on the game itself were split.

Honestly, I wish they’d priced it at ¥754 instead.

Kimutaku's always getting marked down, huh (Kimutaku = nickname for star Takuya Kimura)
3AnonymousOct 12, 2026 16:36
It's just a game where you watch cutscenes, then do boring traveling and side quests on repeat in between.
5AnonymousOct 12, 2026 16:41
Wow, talk about timing.

I just cleared out games I'll never play again from my library.
Deleting both Kimutaku games freed up over 100GB. Feels great ♡
7AnonymousOct 12, 2026 16:46
Got it free with PS Plus.
This one was actually really good.
8AnonymousOct 12, 2026 16:47
Is it just jealousy because it's Kimutaku?
At the very least, within the Like a Dragon series, this is the most fun one, hands down.
9AnonymousOct 12, 2026 16:48
This one's good, but the sequel is trash of trash — straight-up garbage.
12AnonymousOct 12, 2026 16:51
Re: #9
Lost Judgment is far from trash, it's actually a pretty great game.
People are only split on the ending and Professor Sawa, and way too many who haven't even played it are misreading what that split actually means.

Re: #9
Aside from the nonstop Sawa-bashing, I'd call it a great game.
11AnonymousOct 12, 2026 16:50
Bought it for about ¥2000 but it's still sitting in my backlog.
13AnonymousOct 12, 2026 16:52
Re: #11
What a waste.
You should play it, it really pulls you in.
15AnonymousOct 12, 2026 16:53
Professor Sawa, Professor Sawa —
people don't even know that much about her to begin with.
17AnonymousOct 12, 2026 16:58
In Lost Judgment's ending, there's at least some redemption in how Kimutaku properly set his former students straight — that was a nice touch.
24AnonymousOct 12, 2026 17:07
Re: #17
Realistically people don't turn their lives around that easily, but there was still some sense of redemption there.
Also, Yagami being kind to the bullied kid was great.

Re: #21
Bullying is the whole theme after all, but I think it's impressive the game was willing to dig into that subject at all.
21AnonymousOct 12, 2026 17:03
The first one was really fun, but the second one had such a gut-wrenching story that it never felt satisfying, all the way to the end.
25AnonymousOct 12, 2026 17:08
Is this secretly FF15 or something? (joking jab at Final Fantasy XV's infamously long, troubled development)

Re: #30
Why's everyone except the guy in the middle look like they've aged? lol
45AnonymousOct 12, 2026 18:31
Re: #30
In FF everyone's got the same face lol
Just different hairstyles.
46AnonymousOct 12, 2026 18:36
Story-wise the first one's better, but gameplay-wise Lost Judgment is more fleshed out.
Everything RGG Studio's put out since has been garbage, so Lost Judgment is RGG Studio's peak.
53AnonymousOct 12, 2026 18:54
Re: #46
Seriously, whether Nagoshi's involved or not makes a blatant difference in quality.
54AnonymousOct 12, 2026 18:54
Companions are just there as decoys and triggers for special moves, so what can you do.
57AnonymousOct 12, 2026 19:08
Re: #54
Don't you feel that rush when Kaito and the others show up to help?
Doesn't it mean anything to you that Azuma keeps getting dragged into it but still fights his hardest anyway?
58AnonymousOct 12, 2026 19:23
Bring back Pierre. (referring to Pierre Taki, the original actor swapped out after his drug arrest)
61AnonymousOct 12, 2026 19:34
Re: #58
There's a mod for that.
60AnonymousOct 12, 2026 19:32
I actually think this one, more than the mainline Like a Dragon games, is the better fit for Switch 2.
74AnonymousOct 12, 2026 20:52
Re: #60
Yeah, that's true actually.
66AnonymousOct 12, 2026 19:56
Kimutaku lol lol, wouldn't want it even for free lol
68AnonymousOct 12, 2026 20:30
Re: #66
Yeah, there was a lot of that reaction when it was first announced lol
But it won people over on merit.
72AnonymousOct 12, 2026 20:48
I'm playing Let It Die (offline), the underwear-only game,
so maybe another time.
80AnonymousOct 12, 2026 21:17
Re: #72
If you like underwear-only games, I'd recommend Judgment

81AnonymousOct 12, 2026 21:18
Re: #80
Can Kimutaku not do that?
84AnonymousOct 12, 2026 21:23
The victim character in Judgment is totally my type — I wonder if there's a real person she's modeled after?
86AnonymousOct 12, 2026 22:12
Re: #84
Emi, Professor Sawa, Koda-san — every woman in the Judgment series who suffers ends up being cute.
Which is exactly why it makes you hate the villains even more lol
85AnonymousOct 12, 2026 21:54
It's actually a surprisingly well-reviewed game.
Back in the day you'd often see people drop real cash on a fully decked-out Kimutaku.
95AnonymousOct 13, 2026 00:28
Re: #85
A fully microtransaction'd Kimutaku is just a minor gag at best.
More importantly, the main story is genuinely great — before you know it, you end up liking Kimutaku.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Judgment is a spin-off of the Like a Dragon (Yakuza) series, known for its live-action-style presentation starring Takuya Kimura. After one of the original cast members was arrested on drug charges, the first game has continued to be sold with that actor’s face and voice replaced by another performer — which is what the thread’s exchange of “Bring back Pierre” and “There’s a mod for that” is referring to. As for the sequel, Lost Judgment, opinions were split over its story and its handling of the character Professor Sawa, with fans divided between favoring the first game and favoring the second. The thread also shared the view that the series’ quality hinges on how involved director Toshihiro Nagoshi is. Note that this sale marks an all-time low specifically for the Steam version — a distinction from physical copies or prices on other storefronts that readers may easily conflate.
