Elf Image Dump Takes Over VIP Thread — 5ch: ‘Those Lips Are Sexy!’

Background and Talking Points on This Topic

5ch’s VIP board has a classic thread format known as an “image thread,” where the original poster puts up a picture and other users respond by piling on similarly themed images one after another. This time the theme was “elves,” kicked off by an illustration-style character image, and in that same flow, someone pushed for Hololive’s “Lamy-chan.” VTuber character designs often draw on fantasy-race motifs, so it’s not unusual for such names to come up in illustration threads like this one. There were also replies pointing out anatomical oddities in the artwork, like “that girl’s left hand structure,” which reflects a broader trend: in an era where it’s often hard to tell whether an illustration is AI-generated or hand-drawn, criticism of rough art easily spirals into debates over whether something is AI-made. This article leaves out some exchanges that escalated into arguments over that question, since they involved personal attacks and unfounded accusations.
