It's all old folks, huh
Still, it'll probably rake in decent box office
Plenty of seniors and middle-aged people will go see it
7Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:34:12.62ID:geRJ8U6f0
If Eri Fukatsu's not in it, though…
8Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:34:16.09ID:OAxYnS+a0
Was Kohei Matsushita even in this series?
10Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:37:46.81ID:EJJhslCS0
>>8
He was in the Muroi movie
9Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:35:57.72ID:A7zYzEMj0
Did he never get promoted?
Waku never made it up the ranks before retirement?
Aren't cops supposed to get promoted by seniority?
30Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:46:52.15ID:YB6iysR40
>>9
Well, he's the guy who puts in the effort and only ever fails
11Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:38:32.83ID:2BfxjJFe0
This must be what it felt like for grandpa watching Mito Komon (a long-running samurai TV series) on repeat forever
14Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:39:52.69ID:h2pnSeKZ0
So Kakei's not in it either?
17Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:42:59.24ID:kpRTJMwp0
>>14
Retired to Atami
22Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:44:34.61ID:5XTjJwoJ0
>>14
Even as chief, he got shipped off to Akita

Yuki Uchida and that crew weren't needed from the start
This show ran on Yanaba, Fukatsu, and Ikariya
And none of them are in it
Generally, shows and movies that are dying just keep piling on more characters
Kakei and Miki Maya, fine, keep them
But don't invent new characters for the on-the-ground cop roles
Like Yuki Uchida or Chibi Norida

The precinct's the setting, Waku's gone, Mashita got promoted, Yukino got married and retired — how do you do this without new characters?
71Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:14:00.48ID:8Axfg8Nj0
>>18
Uchida was actually there from the early TV specials though
24Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:44:45.81ID:8lS3gat80
So seriously, where's Eri Fukatsu?!
33Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:47:39.35ID:5XTjJwoJ0
>>24
She'll probably be in the Aoshima slot from the Muroi movies
My guess: just a brief cameo right at the very end
35Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:48:23.31ID:Iu3jTn/20
>>33
The fact that everyone's saying she's not in it up to this point is suspicious
Oda showed up at the very end even in the Muroi Shinji movie
26Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:44:51.99ID:/Qo931aA0
Kind of pointless to have killed off Muroi if this is how it goes
27Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:45:24.08ID:8lS3gat80
>>26
Toshiro Yanagiba said he'd only come back if they let his character die
38Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:50:20.13ID:3dOPQckJ0
Haven't watched anything since part 2, but apparently Muroi and Sumire died
Feels like finding out a character died in some long-running Western drama you stopped watching ages ago
39Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:50:32.65ID:k0LNEhdQ0
Should've just ended it with the first movie
70Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:13:25.91ID:hghiyblK0
>>39
Had a rough time explaining the plot contradictions to someone who watched the first movie for the first time recently
43Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:51:33.87ID:5XTjJwoJ0
>>38
Sumire didn't die
She just quit the police and went back to the countryside
48Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:56:49.27ID:P8S4BCWA0
>>43
Doing that whole ghostly send-off scene and then never bringing her back for the rest of the movie, only to reveal she was alive the whole time — that's a bit cringe, no?
50Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:58:55.84ID:gxu/KlmO0
>>48
And apparently they told Eri Fukatsu to act that scene believing her character had died
Maybe they changed it once a sequel got greenlit and they had no choice
53Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:01:29.60ID:5XTjJwoJ0
>>48
They never actually said she died in the main story
I think all the ghost stuff was just a cover for a visual effect that didn't come out right
(Also, don't put ghosts in what's supposed to be a normal cop drama)
45Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:54:22.50ID:JbcnWP0S0
Bayside Shakedown, GTO, Emergency Room 24 Hours…
All just old shows
49Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 09:57:10.36ID:sfR1nEga0
>>45
Is Naomi next?
55Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:02:02.95ID:suu/eGPG0
Isn't Miki Maya already past retirement age?
Did she become a Diet member or something?
58Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:03:43.99ID:5XTjJwoJ0
>>55
Even going by the actress's real age, she's still got a few years left
60Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:04:39.19ID:XHUfRiWc0
So is Muroi actually dead?
62Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:05:15.00ID:5XTjJwoJ0
>>60
Died for absolutely nothing, literally
63Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:05:44.40ID:6cAtbKCo0
>>60
Living out a quiet retirement in the countryside
64Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:05:59.30ID:XHUfRiWc0
>>62
Whoa, I had no idea
67Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:08:49.08ID:5XTjJwoJ0
>>64
He got on the brass's bad side and was ordered transferred to Akita, refused, and retired instead (Shinjo got sent off in his place)
Holed up in the countryside living with a foster kid, then got dragged into trouble with the kid's parents
Long story short, he had a heart attack in the snowy mountains and died
68Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:10:19.57ID:P8S4BCWA0
>>53
For a movie billed as 'the final chapter,' staging it to look like he died when he's actually alive seems pointless — who does that even benefit?
69Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:11:28.37ID:5XTjJwoJ0
>>68
That scene itself didn't mean anything anyway
Makes you wonder why they went with such a weird bit of staging
72Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:14:46.92ID:aQnNrmFJ0
Watching all this makes you appreciate how clean 'Taiyo ni Hoero!' (a classic detective drama) was, killing off its near-lead at the height of his popularity
Nobody wants to see the Macaroni or Jeans character go soft with age
78Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:17:41.13ID:5XTjJwoJ0
>>72
You don't see that pattern much these days — swapping out the 'young lead detective' role like that
81Anonymous2026/08/26(水) 10:18:44.94ID:KaUA8B670
>>72
Back then, the whole 'hit TV show becomes a movie' business model didn't really exist yet
Though it did exist for anime

Actors at the time drew a sharp line between movies and TV dramas as separate worlds
Fuji TV was the one that erased that distinction through the '90s
