Not fraud-related, but apparently if you buy a commuter pass yet actually walk or bike to work for your health, workers' comp won't cover you if you get in an accident. Still gonna keep doing it though, since I don't want to ride the packed trains.

Well, fudging commuting or travel expenses a little is something everyone does. My company's actually pretty chill about that kind of thing as part of the culture, so I lucked out.

Nice, I'm jealous. Honestly, I don't see the problem with taking surface roads to commute somewhere technically far enough to justify the highway. Commuting costs should be based on the distance from home to office, not the actual route taken.

Small mercy is that the punishment was just a verbal warning plus a hit to my bonus review. No repayment of the fraudulent difference either. But from now on, anyone using toll roads has to submit ETC records, so I'm probably going to be hated for it.

Once you get labeled as someone who commits that kind of fraud, promotions slow down and you'll get shipped off to a subsidiary the first chance they get. If the verbal warning is the kind written into official regulations, it stays on your record permanently as a disciplinary mark — you'd be better off just changing jobs.

The temporary toilets at my job site are the worst — you have to use a hand-shower to flush your own poop down. There's a real risk of splashback too. Seriously, my company must be broke.
