In the Nandemo Jikkyo (Anything Goes Live) forum, a user showed off a newly bought electric guitar with a neon-colored body, sparking a lively thread. The user said their mother called it a “gross color,” but other users quickly recognized it as a TAK signature model, and the discussion grew to cover topics like restringing a Floyd Rose tremolo and choosing a multi-effects unit.
Other participants also shared photos of their own guitars and Playtech (a budget guitar brand) instruments, and the conversation continued with talk about gear for recreating the sound of bands like B’z and GLAY.
Cool! ✨
Jangly rhythm, shreddy solos, wailing distortion — that's the plan!? 🥺

I was going to get the blue one, but after trying it out I liked this one better, so I went with neon. My mom says it's a gross color, but no worries (mo man tai — Cantonese-derived slang for "no problem")

That's an MG-M2!
TAK's old signature model, right?
Restringing looks like a pain — you doing okay with it?

That's right, I got the MG-M2G ✌
I was pretty nervous about my first guitar ever having a Floyd Rose, but apparently with this Floyd Rose-type you don't have to cut the ball end off the strings, so it turned out to be surprisingly easy

Let's see it
I've been wanting a Playtech SG lately
I hate side-mounted jacks on the body
I like top-mounted ones
so I've basically only ever bought Strats
Telecasters were nice too
but I let mine go for the reason above

It's such a convenient, easy-to-use Floyd Rose type, but it's a bummer it's not compatible with the original or GOTOH parts

I mean it's already over 7 years old at this point, so it's kind of outdated
these days there are better ones for cheaper
SONICAKE's QME-20 looks pretty solid, for instance

Honestly you're better off just buying whatever's newest at the time

If you're not playing in front of people,
do you even need a multi-effects unit?
I've got a ZOOM bass multi-effects unit hooked up to my guitar
one with a built-in looper
actually I only bought it for the looper function,
but I've never once used it as a looper lol
the presets sound really good,
so I own two of them — one just for presets
and I use the other to dial in my own tone

I was going to take a photo, but I'd been practicing my cutting technique even though I'm bad at it, and my right hand started bleeding and got blood all over the body, making it look gross, so I gave up…

I just happened to see it on YouTube — there was someone using a Mooer GE300 to recreate early B'z's Rockman sound, and I thought I wanted to copy that, so I've been going back and forth on it. But even though it's old, it's not exactly cheap either, so I'm still torn

Ah, I see
For a B'z sound, there was a video by a guy named Yuji Imanishi recreating it with a multi-effects unit
can't remember which one it was, though

Set your amp to the EVH 5150 model, cab to EVH too, gain around 2 for a clean tone, add a Blues Driver-model stomp box for moderate overdrive, and throw on a light plate reverb — that'll get you a HISASHI (GLAY guitarist)-ish sound
