PS5 Info Show Airs Tonight at 10PM — 5ch Asks: ‘How Badly Do You Want Shine Post?’

From our other sites

The story

A thread went up on 5ch’s Hardware/Industry (“Geha”) board after news broke that Sony’s PS5 info program “State of Play” airs tonight at 10PM. The thread’s original poster pointed to PS5’s aggressive momentum — citing things like “PlayStation locked down the FF7 Remake’s promotional rights” — and posters speculated together about what the broadcast might reveal. One focus was whether Shine Post, a music game believed to be under timed exclusivity for Switch 2, would get a PlayStation announcement, with some noting that a year has passed since its launch, right around when that exclusivity period would expire. Other topics discussed in parallel included a possible GTA6 PS5 console bundle, a new RPG from Konami, unannounced slots at Tokyo Game Show, and whether a Switch 2 version of the Persona series exists.

Looks like it's finally time for the Nintendo fanboys ("Nintenpigs," a common 5ch slur) who've spent forever trash-talking the PS5 to tremble before its relentless lineup:
・A Konami blockbuster announcement blowout
・PlayStation locking down the FF7 Remake's promo rights

How badly do you want Shine Post, seriously? 😅

Re: #3
For what it's worth, there's a plausible lineup of events for a Shine Post reveal:

State of Play announces the Japan release
More details/follow-ups in the event info segment on the 13th–14th
A stage event at TGS

That flow wouldn't be weird at all.
Plus it's been over a year since the Switch 2 version launched, so the timed exclusivity should be expiring right about now too.

Re: #3
The titles the diehard Switch crowd ("shou-chan," a mocking 5ch nickname for them) are desperate to get:

Xenoblade
Shine Post

They'll probably drop GTA6 info, and on the Japan State of Play side, announce a PS5 console bundle that includes a GTA6 code — priced a bit cheaper than buying separately.
6AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:53
What's with this intense obsession over Shine Post?
7AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:54
This much desperation for Shine Post is hilarious (lol)
13AnonymousSep 3, 2026 12:59
How is a Konami "blockbuster" supposed to get anyone hyped?
14AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:00
Is State of Play airing at 10PM just to bury the "30 straight weekly losses" story? (lol)
15AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:03
It's all coming to Switch 2 eventually anyway, right? (lol)
16AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:06
Telling them to focus only on PlayStation given the current situation
is basically a roundabout way of saying "drop dead." That's an unreasonable ask.
18AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:09
Still, Konami's apparently putting out that PS5-exclusive RPG that looks like a straight-up death wish, so let's sit back and see how that goes.
19AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:09
Funny how people still take their side after getting burned so badly by them before.
20AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:10
If you want to play Shine Post that badly, just buy a Switch 2.
The game's even on sale right now.
22AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:14
Seriously though, if they wanted to sell it on PS5,
I doubt they'd have put it at 40% off at a time like this.

Sega has as many as 14 unannounced slots in its TGS lineup, so a fair number should get revealed there.
Though that 14 probably includes titles from Sega's overseas studios too.

Re: #31
For Sega, though, the TGS lineup includes partner companies too, so it wouldn't be surprising if most of those slots turn out to be other publishers' games.

A "State" that can't even trend, and they're calling this divine punishment?
43AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:53
Re: #41
There was someone earlier claiming it was "dominating the trends" while sitting at like 20th place.
42AnonymousSep 3, 2026 13:51
Persona 4 [remake?] will probably come to Switch later on.
As for Persona 6, who knows — Switch wasn't even listed as an option in Atlus's survey.

Re: #42
A leaker who went by "Midori" (now deleted/gone) said both 4 and 6 are coming to Switch 2, so even if it's not a simultaneous release, it'll happen eventually.
55AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:15
"Divine punishment": a multiplatform title with a Switch 2 version gets announced ahead of a Nintendo Direct…
…that's pretty weak.
76AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:42
More importantly, isn't Switch 2 about to set a new low in the Famitsu weekly sales chart?
80AnonymousSep 3, 2026 14:48
Re: #76
Just being on the Geha board makes your life sound rough, lol lol lol

A console in its 6th year genuinely about to lose out to one in its 2nd year.
What kind of user base gets you to that point?

Seriously, nobody cares about this, lol

Background and Key Points

“State of Play” is a PlayStation info program Sony broadcasts irregularly, typically used as a venue for new title reveals and follow-up updates. Shine Post, the music game that came up in the thread, launched first on Switch 2, and titles like this often carry a “timed exclusivity” deal under which versions for other platforms unlock after a set period. Posters speculated about an announcement because the timing lines up with when that exclusivity would lift, but none of this is an official announcement — it’s purely 5ch speculation. The weekly sales comparison between Switch 2 and PS5 that came up toward the end of the thread is likewise just a claim made in a post, with no source cited. Some of the more combative language typical of the Geha board has been trimmed, but the content itself centers on speculation about next-gen console sales strategy and title rollouts — the truth won’t be known until the actual broadcast airs.
