  • Voice Actress Hina Sakurai’s Solo Event Sparks Debate Over ¥8,800 Ticket, ¥14,000 Farewell Package

A solo event for voice actress Hina Sakurai (nicknamed “Hiina”) was announced, and its pricing — ¥8,800 for a regular ticket, ¥14,000 for a farewell meet-and-greet package with bonus perks — became a hot topic on 5ch’s Love Live! board. The event came in response to fan requests to “drop the bundled events and just do a solo show,” but once the prices were revealed, many pointed out they were steep compared to other voice actors’ fan meetings. At the same time, some argued that limiting the advance lottery to a single round preemptively silenced complaints about wanting multiple chances to win tickets, sparking a mix of praise and criticism.

    Ticket price: ¥8,800!
    Farewell meet-and-greet: ¥14,000!
Is this a concert or what?

Kind of like paying for front-row seats.
    Still, that's pricey though.
    6AnonymousSep 22, 2026 22:58
Sure there are various perks bundled in, but that's a bold price for a solo event.
    7AnonymousSep 22, 2026 23:10
Who the hell is Jimmy Onishi supposed to be here? (random comedian/artist name-drop — seems to be a non sequitur)
    8AnonymousSep 22, 2026 23:29
I'd think this is still the phase where you're supposed to be growing your fanbase, but she's already switched into cash-grab mode — no need to rush things like this.

    Re: #8
She's not exactly young anymore, and since she's signed to an agency, results are expected of her — so isn't this about right?
With a capacity under 800, it should fill up easily.
    10AnonymousSep 23, 2026 01:08
Fan club and bar events with a farewell meet-and-greet included usually run around ¥9,000. ¥14,000 for front row + goods + farewell is pretty steep, even bundled together.
    11AnonymousSep 23, 2026 01:42
So now it's not just Love Live! — even solo voice actor events are adopting the tiered upgrade pricing model.
Guess they're just ignoring the casual fans who'd go just because they're a little curious.
    12AnonymousSep 23, 2026 01:51
Not worth it unless it's a full live show.
Also, if you're going to upgrade the front seats, you should downgrade the back seats to match.
I keep saying this: adjust it so total revenue balances out to what it normally would be.
    13AnonymousSep 23, 2026 02:05
Arisa Komiya has always done her fan meetings for ¥10,000, including a handwritten autograph handed to you personally plus a farewell send-off, so this feels a bit pricey by comparison.
    15AnonymousSep 23, 2026 07:46
If it's going to cost this much, they might as well bring in her fellow hometown celebrity Hideki Matsui as a guest. (Matsui: famous former NPB/MLB baseball player)
    16AnonymousSep 23, 2026 08:55
Doesn't seem like anything but S-seats will sell out.
The back seats are gonna feel pretty lame at this rate.
    18AnonymousSep 23, 2026 09:36
Since most applicants will go for the perk package, picking the regular ticket basically guarantees you the very back row.
And yet this'll probably sell out anyway.
    21AnonymousSep 23, 2026 12:26
Everyone said, "Ditch the bundled events, just do a solo one"
And this is what we get when it actually happens.
    25AnonymousSep 23, 2026 15:23
    Re: #21
And on top of that, by limiting it to a single advance lottery round, they've shut down everyone who was complaining.
This'll probably fill up just fine, right?
    22AnonymousSep 23, 2026 12:43

    23AnonymousSep 23, 2026 13:15
Still way better than a bundled event.
If the high ticket price makes more people give up on applying, the odds improve for the rest of us — totally welcome.
    24AnonymousSep 23, 2026 13:27
Even with other live shows and cast events happening around the same time, Hiina's fans ("Hi-ota") will still pay up, so the odds will probably stay tough. Even when Mītanu did hers at Nikkei Hall, it filled up just fine.
    26AnonymousSep 23, 2026 15:29
Sorry, I'm just a random passerby who doesn't really know much about her, but what exactly does this event even involve?
    27AnonymousSep 23, 2026 17:00
    You just drink coffee.
    28AnonymousSep 23, 2026 21:56
If every seat comes with earphones for live ASMR, then ¥14,000 would actually be worth it.
    29AnonymousSep 23, 2026 23:20
Even after everyone said to ditch the bundling, the Non & Hina event costs less than half this even without a farewell meet-and-greet. It depends on perks and seating, but this one definitely lands on the pricier side.
    30AnonymousSep 23, 2026 23:39
Between all the stacked seat upgrades, expenses are already brutal, and now even solo events are jumping on the high-priced-seat cash grab everywhere you look.
It'd be fine if regular seats still had a decent shot at winning, but some organizers only let goods-included applicants win during the paid early-access lottery — wonder how this one's going to handle it?

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

When it comes to pricing for solo voice actor events, a format known as the “upgrade system” — where the base admission fee stays the same but front-row or perk-included seats cost extra — has become increasingly common in recent years. Commenters compared the event to Arisa Komiya’s autograph session (¥10,000) and other voice actors’ fan meetings, and while the base ¥8,800 ticket price itself wasn’t seen as unusually high, many voices singled out the ¥14,000 premium plan with the farewell meet-and-greet as a bold move. At the same time, some speculated that limiting the advance lottery to a single round was a deliberate move to preempt complaints about wanting multiple chances to win tickets — suggesting reactions went beyond simple criticism of a price hike. It should also be noted that the event’s specific content (whether it centers on a talk show or a live performance, for example) hasn’t been clarified in the official announcement, so speculation in the thread remains just that — speculation.

  • Subordinate Declares ‘I’m Going to the Labor Bureau’ — 5ch Reacts: ‘I’ll Come With You’

A feature introducing management consultant Junya Honda’s book “The Complete Guide to How Leaders Should Behave” (published on diamond.jp on September 23, 2026) sparked a discussion on 5ch’s Business News+ board about how a boss should respond when a subordinate says, “I’m going to the Labor Standards Bureau.” Some posters recommended staying calm, with comments like “I’ll come with you” and “Report it to HR first,” while many others pointed out that “anyone who’s actually going wouldn’t bother announcing it — they’d just go quietly.” The thread also brought in practical opinions about how much the Labor Bureau really does in practice, turning it into more than just a joke thread.

First you'd go to your superior and ask for improvements, right?
Next up is the Labor Bureau — but by the time you're actually at the point of going there,
you wouldn't bother saying "I'm going" each time. Not after it's gotten that far.

Also, if you go and just "consult" without more, they'll listen and that's the end of it,
so you should go in having already made clear what you actually want done about it.

And if you're prepared to quit and actually fight, you should be talking to a lawyer, not the Labor Bureau — in practice, the Labor Bureau isn't much use.
    41AnonymousSep 24, 2026 00:23
Thought this would turn into a joke thread, but there are surprisingly a lot of serious replies.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

The Labor Standards Inspection Office is the government body that handles violations of labor law — unpaid wages, illegal overtime, workplace safety, and the like — and how it responds depends on whether the person consulting wants an actual correction made or just wants something on record. The comment that consultations “end with just being heard out” reflects real cases where people go in without clearly stating what they want done. The Labor Standards Inspection Office, the Labor Bureau, and labor tribunals are also separate channels with different roles: generally, if talks don’t resolve the issue, things move on to systems like individual labor dispute resolution or a labor tribunal — and the thread’s “Labor Standards Office → Labor Bureau → labor tribunal” comment reflected that progression. A recurring theme in the thread was the claim that “anyone who’s really going doesn’t announce it beforehand — they just go quietly,” with many posters treating advance notice (or the lack of it) as a way to gauge how serious someone actually is.

  • Masuda City Moves to Invite Elon Musk, Citing Shiba Inu Roots — Meets With X Japan, Which Sets Conditions

A group of business figures in Masuda City, Shimane Prefecture, has launched a PR campaign reaching out to Elon Musk on X five times a week, leaning on the city’s local lore as the “birthplace of the Shiba Inu.” Back in July, they already met with Ayumu Matsuyama, head of X’s Japan operations, to explain the connection between Masuda and the Shiba Inu breed — but getting the request passed on to Musk’s US headquarters reportedly requires them to first boost their post count and follower numbers. Reactions on 5channel were largely chilly, with comments like “isn’t this just a nuisance?” and “it’s a problem if tax money is involved,” though some defended the effort, saying “the sheer initiative deserves credit.” Opinions were split.

A group of business figures in the city has launched a PR campaign to invite Elon Musk (55), the American entrepreneur renowned as the world’s richest man, to Masuda City, Shimane Prefecture.

Since the roots of the Shiba Inu Musk owns can reportedly be traced back to Masuda, the group is hopeful, reasoning that “even if it’s a long shot in business, when it comes to his beloved dog, things might be different.”

    Context and Talking Points

Masuda City is one of a number of municipalities that has recently leaned into being the “birthplace of the Shiba Inu” as a tourism pitch, and as commenters noted, it’s really only pushed this angle hard for about the last decade. The invitation campaign got as far as a July meeting with the head of X’s Japan office, but getting through to the US headquarters reportedly comes with conditions — boosting post counts and follower numbers — keeping the odds of success low. What split opinion in the thread wasn’t so much Masuda’s Shiba Inu claim as the whole practice of towns chasing celebrity visits. Commenters repeatedly brought up Obama, Fukui Prefecture, which famously went all-in celebrating when (then) President Obama was elected due to the shared name, with some dismissing the effort as a waste of tax money and cringeworthy, while others praised the sheer initiative behind it. Whether Musk himself has responded wasn’t mentioned as of this report.

For now, just make the railway company the interim champion

    Background and points of discussion

Osaka Pro Wrestling is a long-running promotion founded in 1993, and it isn’t unusual for a marquee wrestler to personally carry the championship belt when heading out to a regional show. What made headlines this time was that the belt went missing during one of those trips. Where the thread split was over how to read the listed price, “28,000 yen (tax included, when new)” — since “market value” and “original retail price when new” are technically different concepts, several posters pointed out the contradiction. Other belts, like New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s original IWGP belt, studded with gems and rumored to be worth 100 million yen at market value, show that production costs and insurance treatment for “championship belts” can vary hugely between promotions even when they’re called the same thing. The thread also brought up the true story of an Athens Olympics gold medalist who left his medal at a payphone after the ceremony, but that was a different sport in a different era with no direct connection to this incident. It’s also worth noting that wrestling promotions misplacing belts isn’t unprecedented — other promotions have reported similar incidents before, so this isn’t a one-of-a-kind case.

  • Criticism floods in over Hikaru’s rakugo debut — Shiraku reveals even Shinosuke has been getting complaints

YouTuber Hikaru (35) made his solo rakugo debut on August 3 at the Meijiza theater under the stage name “Tatekawa Sagishi,” and criticism has been pouring in from rakugo fans saying “that’s not rakugo.” His master, Tatekawa Shiraku, revealed on YouTube on the 22nd that complaints have even been reaching Tatekawa Shinosuke, the head of the Tatekawa school. On 5ch, opinions split over how this compares to the “B Course” system created by the late Tatekawa Danshi, whether it was appropriate to hold a paid solo show so soon after becoming a disciple, and the generational gap between Shinosuke and Shiraku/Danshun.

    Wed 9/23, 18:00

Rakugo performer Tatekawa Shiraku (63) updated his YouTube channel on the 22nd, revealing that taking on YouTuber Hikaru (35) — known as “Tatekawa Sagishi” — as his disciple has drawn a storm of criticism toward the Tatekawa school of rakugo he belongs to.

Hikaru made a flashy rakugo debut with a solo performance titled “Tatekawa Sagishi: Solo Show” at the Meijiza theater on August 3. While some have praised him for putting a spotlight on the rakugo world, rakugo fans have also voiced harsh criticism, saying “that’s not rakugo.”

    Re: #102
Sounds like a perpetual opening act, then.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

The Tatekawa school has a system called the “B Course,” created by Danshi while he was alive. Unlike formal live-in disciples, it lets celebrities and others register through a simplified process and take the stage in an unofficial, novelty capacity outside the regular yose theater lineup — this is what the repeated “B Course” mentions in the thread refer to. What’s being criticized this time is that Hikaru held a paid solo show at a major venue, the Meijiza, only a very short time after becoming a disciple — which came across as skipping the traditional training process of building up through zenza (opening act) and futatsume (second rank) status over many years, and that appears to be the core of the backlash. In the thread, opinions split between those pointing out that even while Danshi was alive, celebrities did take the stage as a novelty act, and those who take issue with the difference in status a full solo show represents. It’s also hard to tell from the original article alone that Shinosuke, the head of the Tatekawa school, and Shiraku/Danshun, who are on the front lines of the complaints, are separated by a generation — a separate issue from the previously rumored discord between them.

Former ANGERME member Wakana Matsumoto reported on her blog that she visited ‘Tabekko Doubutsu MIRAI LAB.’ with fellow former member Yukie Kawamura. Photos showed Matsumoto wearing clothes that appeared to be hand-me-downs from Kawamura, and on 5ch, comments like “guess she’s just casually naming Kawamura now” reflected surprise at the shift — Kawamura had reportedly asked fans not to name her publicly after leaving the group. Meanwhile, plenty of speculation also circulated about how the friendship started and what Kawamura’s been up to lately.

    Background and Key Points

‘Tabekko Doubutsu’ is Cabaya Foods’ brand of animal-shaped biscuits, and ‘MIRAI LAB.’ is a limited-time fan experience facility built around it. Yukie Kawamura, the former member who came up in the thread, reportedly asked fans not to name her even if they spotted her when she left ANGERME — which is why it came as a surprise that her junior, Wakana Matsumoto, is now openly sharing their friendship. That said, much of what’s discussed in the thread — whether Kawamura is married, how the friendship started, and so on — is speculation from posters rather than anything confirmed by Kawamura or those involved. Fans also picked apart the blog photos for clues, like tracing the outfit back to its owner.

  • German-style “no bill-splitting” sparks debate — 5ch: “I hate the whole organizer system too”

In an Asahi Shimbun column, writer Sandra Häfelin explored the cultural gap between Germany and Japan over “paying the bill.” In Germany, even at drinking parties, it’s common for each person to pay only for what they personally ate and drank, whereas in Japan splitting the bill evenly (warikan) is the norm, often forcing people who barely ate or drank to shoulder an equal share. In response to the article, 5ch’s News Express+ board saw a clash between those saying “if you don’t like it, just decline to go” and those saying “the whole organizer/bill-splitting system itself is a hassle,” and the thread spiraled into a broader debate over whether drinking-party culture itself is even worth keeping.

I hate the whole "organizer" system too. Calling everyone up, taking orders — what a pain.

People who feel like it should just show up, pay whatever they want, and head home.

Farewell parties and the like shouldn't even be a thing.

    Just my personal opinion, though.

Depends on the timing, the situation, workplace social obligations, and your position. Obviously I decline when I can, but if my boss or a sales rep begs me to stand in for them, I'm stuck going. And most of the time those events are nothing but the other company's office gossip and griping — deadly boring.

The reason your boss or the sales rep dumps it on you as a stand-in is precisely because it's a hassle and a hollow, pointless gathering. If it actually mattered, they'd handle it themselves instead of offloading it onto someone else. When a gathering actually affects their own performance, normal people show up in person.

Even on a 5,000-yen all-you-can-drink course, if there's a non-drinker we charge them less. Say 2 of 4 people don't drink — those two pay 4,000, the drinkers pay 6,000.

If you skip the tatami room and just stand solo at the counter, that works.

Background and key points of the debate

Bill-splitting isn’t uniquely Japanese — the West has its own version of individual paying, sometimes called “going Dutch” — but this article frames Germany’s individualistic approach to paying against Japan’s collective bill-splitting culture. The thread split into two camps: a “personal responsibility” camp arguing that if you dislike an unfair split, you should simply decline to attend, and an “abolish the system” camp arguing that the organizer and bill-splitting system itself should be scrapped — both essentially questioning whether drinking parties should exist in their current form at all. At the same time, some commenters described already using a sliding scale that lightens the load for non-drinkers, suggesting the actual custom isn’t as uniform as it’s often portrayed. It’s also worth noting the original article sits behind the Asahi Shimbun’s paywall, so the 5ch discussion is reacting only to the headline and opening paragraph — not a debate grounded in the article’s full content.

※This article was excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (News Express+) thread “[Writer] “I just had two beers and some fried chicken” — the Japan-Germany “bill problem” that torments party organizers: Asahi Shimbun.”

  • Man Pushing 40 Rocks Streetwear, 5ch Weighs In: ‘Mostly Uniqlo Brands’

A thread titled “I’m pushing 40 but I still dress streetwear” popped up on Newsoku VIP, sparking a wide-ranging chat about fashion for people in their 40s and beyond. The original poster claimed to stick to street-style staples like collarless T-shirts and varsity jackets, prompting pushback from other users, including comments like “A guy pushing 40 basically never goes out in a collarless shirt.” The discussion also turned to brand preferences, ranging from Uniqlo and select shops to the merits of luxury labels like Prada and Louis Vuitton, and even claims that LEE overalls are starting to trend — turning into a broader debate over where exactly age and fashion draw the line.

    Grunge, lol

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

“Streetwear” originally refers to a casual style rooted in skate and hip-hop culture, and even fine-grained etiquette debates — like whether to layer a collared piece over a T-shirt — aren’t unusual within that scene. The brand names that came up in the thread, such as Supreme, Stussy, and Neighborhood, all belong to that lineage, but it’s also common to mix them with mass-market or select-shop brands like Uniqlo and United Arrows — the two aren’t necessarily at odds. The claim that “LEE overalls are trending right now” is worth taking with a grain of salt, since it’s just one poster’s personal impression with no supporting data cited. As for the link between age and fashion, Japan still holds fairly strongly to the idea of “dressing age-appropriately,” while the people actually living the style pushed back, insisting they have no intention of changing how they dress just because of their age — and that gap in attitude was the recurring fault line running through the whole thread.

※This article is compiled and summarized from the 5ch (Newsoku VIP) thread “I’m pushing 40 but I still dress streetwear.”

  • PS6 Clocks In at 40TFlops, Xbox Helix at 56TFlops — 5ch: ‘If It’s $999, PS Wins’

KeplerL2, a leaker known for high reliability, has posted new information about the GPU performance of the next-generation consoles. According to the leak, the PS6 (codename Orion) will deliver 40TFlops while Microsoft’s next Xbox, Project Helix (codename Magnus), will hit 56TFlops — and both designs are reportedly finalized and have completed “tape-out,” the pre-mass-production stage. The thread was divided over the performance jump from the current generation, price predictions based on the PS5 Pro’s $899 (¥138,000) launch price, and just how much this power gap will actually affect real-world sales.

    1AnonymousSep 23, 2026 21:42

I keep seeing these 'please be cheap' wishful-thinking posts (lit. 'maiden's prayer'), but
the PS5 Pro was $899 / ¥138,000, so it's guaranteed to be at least that much.

There's a rumor that Microsoft's console might tighten integration with Windows PC and let you use Steam (i.e., play PC games on the Xbox itself), right?
If that happens, pricing it like a gaming PC would actually make sense.

If PlayStation doesn't steer in that direction too, the 'muh specs' crowd can argue all they want — they'll never win,
since it'll be a fundamentally different price category of product.

    Re: #23
It'll cost more in proportion to the die size, but PS6's Orion is monolithic while Helix's Magnus is chiplet-based, so Helix actually has better production yields/efficiency.

Either way, compared to today's memory and SSD prices, it's basically a rounding error.

    Re: #23
For consumer graphics cards, that'd be about a ¥30,000–50,000 difference.
But since consoles are sold right at the edge of cost, it'll probably only be a ¥10,000–20,000 gap.
    29AnonymousSep 23, 2026 21:57
If the Xbox ends up notably more expensive and more powerful, would any companies actually make games exclusive to it?
    51AnonymousSep 23, 2026 22:10
    Re: #29
That's literally the job of first-party studios.
That said, since Microsoft is pushing to make PC games run on Helix too, it probably won't cost as much as making true console-exclusive games.

PCs are only getting more expensive going forward, so if I can play PC games on it too, I figure I'll just get Helix for gaming and a cheap laptop for everything else on PC.

    Re: #81
Unfortunately, at these specs Xbox will be doing 4K while PS6 is stuck at WQHD lol

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

“Tape-out” refers to the stage where a chip’s design data is finalized and the manufacturing plant (foundry) can be ordered to produce the masks for mass production; because major spec changes become difficult after this stage, it’s often used as a benchmark for gauging how reliable a leak is. The PS5 Pro, cited for comparison in the thread, launched at $899 (¥138,000 domestically), and factoring in this generation’s performance increase (an estimated ~4x jump this time, versus 5.5x from PS4 to PS5), the dominant view was that the next-gen consoles will be priced even higher. On the other hand, it’s worth noting — a point raised in the thread but not fully explored — that in the current generation, the Xbox Series X had the edge in theoretical specs yet has still struggled in the market, so a higher TFlops number doesn’t necessarily translate directly into higher sales or platform dominance.

  • PS5 Emulator Already Running Stable 60fps — 5ch: “Can’t Think of a Single Game I’d Want to Play”

On 5ch’s Hardware & Industry board (Gaha), reports that a PS5 emulator has already reached stable 60fps performance became a hot topic. According to the thread, the project was reportedly started by an overseas developer angered by Sony’s announcement that it would withdraw from the PS5 disc business. Discussion centered on the observation that nobody had bothered to build a PS5 emulator until now because the console has so few exclusive titles, and surprise at how quickly its performance improved anyway. Commenters named several titles such as the Demon’s Souls Remake and Astro Bot, with some arguing that anyone who just wants the exclusives could get by on Steam instead, alongside talk of how the development difficulty compares to PS4 emulators.

    Wait, is this even allowed?
    4AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:00
PS5 exclusives are like, what, three games?
What a waste of an emulator.
    8AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:02
    Re: #4
Couldn't you say the same about PS4 exclusives?
    5AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:00
This means you could play Astro Bot and Wolverine on Xbox now lol
    7AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:01
    What a waste of effort.
    70AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:44
    Re: #7
Might be nice to have somewhere to keep playing these even after Sony pulls out, though.
    9AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:02
Nobody had a reason to make a PS5 emulator because there's nothing to play on it

    ↓

Some angry foreign dev started building one out of spite after Sony's disc-business withdrawal

    ↓

It hit 60fps with barely any effort

    That's basically the whole story.

Nothing but garbage games — the ultimate anti-piracy security, as always.

Isn't it because the PS5 got hacked recently?

Has there ever been a sadder console than this?
    10AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:03
From what I knew, you needed about 10x the hardware specs to run an emulator.
Is that not true anymore these days?
    45AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:18
    Re: #10
Back in the day consoles were heavily customized, purpose-built hardware, but nowadays they're basically off-the-shelf PC parts with minor tweaks, so the situation's different.
    69AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:42
    Re: #10
This isn't really an "emulator" so much as middleware — or more accurately, a compatibility layer. PS5 and PC hardware are built almost the same way, so unlike something like the Famicom, there's no need to simulate the hardware at all.
    12AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:03
Just get Demon's Souls, Astro Bot, Ghost of Yōtei, and GTA6 running well and you're basically done.
    57AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:28
    Re: #12
Don't need it. Honestly, are FromSoftware fanboys the type to be into this kind of piracy stuff too? There are comparison videos out there that reek of emulator footage — I'd like those banned the moment they're spotted.
    13AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:03
    Re: #8
Didn't most of the first-party stuff end up on Steam eventually anyway?
    24AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:06
Even the PS4 emulator doesn't run properly, and now a PS5 one? I bet a Switch 2 emulator, whenever that shows up, ends up working properly before this does.
    26AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:07
    Re: #24
Just focus on the four or so exclusives — one of them is already hitting 60fps lol

Though I guess nobody's actually going to bother.
    29AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:09
    Re: #26
Apparently the Demon's Souls Remake runs stable too.
So that leaves Saros, Returnal, and Wolverine?
    37AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:11
    Re: #29
It's mostly just PS4-to-PS5 ports, so there really aren't many. With an emulator you could probably upscale the PS4 versions and make them run smoother anyway.
    43AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:16
    Re: #29
Isn't it Ghost of Yōtei? Returnal should already be out on PC.
    32AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:10
Sounds like the PS4 emulator scene is grinding away purely because people want to play Bloodborne. Does the PS5 even have a title like that?
    41AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:15
    Re: #32
Foamstars, maybe? (the "bubble Splatoon" game)
    44AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:17
If it went from the withdrawal announcement to this working so fast, the only real reason nobody made an emulator before must be that there just wasn't a game worth playing.
    46AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:19
    Re: #44
Seriously, I can't think of a single game I'd want to play on it.
    50AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:20
I mean, a modern mid-range PC probably really does have like 10x the power of a PS5.
    51AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:22
    Re: #50
    Come on, it's not 10x.
    55AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:27
Same thing happened with the Vita.
No games worth playing, so nobody bothered making an emulator for ages.
    81AnonymousSep 23, 2026 21:10
    Re: #55
I was browsing it since the store's shutting down, and yeah, the lineup is genuinely weak, it's kind of funny. Still way better than the PS5's though.
    63AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:35
Do you even want to play PS5 games?

    66AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:38
    Re: #63
And if you take out the ones also on PC, it's cut in half again, huh.
    68AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:42
But couldn't you just buy it on Steam instead of bothering to make a PS5 emulator at all?
    71AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:48
    Re: #68
Built as a spite project, it might actually run lighter than the Steam version lol
    75AnonymousSep 23, 2026 20:59
Can this emulator reproduce PSSR too? (PS5 Pro's AI upscaling tech)
    79AnonymousSep 23, 2026 21:07
    Re: #75
Forget SR, they'll probably be able to override it with NR, making it strictly better. SR wouldn't even be in the same league.
    77AnonymousSep 23, 2026 21:02
Apparently the Switch 2's security is locked down so tight that an emulator will never come out for it.
    96AnonymousSep 23, 2026 22:14
    Re: #77
Though it got cracked in a recent update, actually.
    95AnonymousSep 23, 2026 22:11
What PS5 exclusives are there besides online-only games anyway?
Just Wolverine, Astro Bot, Saros, the Demon's Souls Remake, and Ghost of Yōtei or so?

    Re: #95
There's also Finger Fitness and Neptunia GoGo.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Current-generation consoles like the PS5 and PS4 use an internal architecture nearly identical to a PC’s, based on x86, so unlike older consoles such as the Famicom, there’s no need to simulate the hardware from scratch. That’s why some in the thread pointed out that, strictly speaking, this software should be called a “compatibility layer” rather than an “emulator.” Opinions were also split on the motivation behind the project, with some claiming it was a reaction to Sony’s withdrawal from the disc business, and others arguing it simply came down to there being so few PS5-exclusive titles worth playing in the first place. There was also talk of whether the emulator could reproduce PSSR (the AI upscaling feature built into the PS5 Pro), but readers should note this remained speculation and wishful thinking within the thread rather than confirmed information.
