  • Bizarre! Kaiki! Yes Donguri RPG to Disband — Farewell Live in December; 5ch: “They Were All Genuinely Funny Gag Comedians”

The comedy unit “Kaiki! Yes Donguri RPG,” made up of solo comedians Yes!Akito, Donguri Takeshi, and Satsumakawa RPG, announced their disbandment on their YouTube channel on October 8. They’re set to hold a farewell live show in December at Tokyo’s Shinjuku Bunka Center, calling the venue size “the biggest scale yet” and hyping it up with lines like “Come even if you only liked us once” and “We’re going to leave nothing in the tank.” On 5ch threads, many praised each member’s skill as a solo comedian, but opinions were split over why the trio never built much name recognition as a group, and over claims that their signature bit “Player Change” resembles material from other comedians.

This was more like a unit of three solo comedians than an actual trio, so they didn't even need to call it a "breakup"

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Kaiki! Yes Donguri RPG was formed by three already-established solo comedians — Yes!Akito, Donguri Takeshi, and Satsumakawa RPG — which makes its formation different from how a typical “trio” usually comes together. That’s reflected in thread comments like “I know all three by name and face, but I have no clue what they do as a trio,” suggesting each member’s individual name recognition outpaced the group’s own. There’s also a gap in competition results among the members: Akito and Satsumakawa have both reached the finals of the R-1 Grand Prix, while Donguri Takeshi reportedly has not, and that difference in visibility is cited as one factor behind the breakup. As for their signature bit “Player Change,” some pointed out a resemblance to material from another unit active around the same time, though the thread never settled on which came first — worth noting this remains speculation rather than established fact.

  • Kōhaku Hosts Picked to Ride VIVANT’s Wave — 5ch Fires Back: “If You Haven’t Seen the Drama, You’re Not Watching Kōhaku Anyway”

NHK announced that for the 77th Kōhaku Uta Gassen broadcast on December 31, announcer Naoko Suzuki will be joined by Mana Ashida, Masato Sakai, and Kazunari Ninomiya as hosts. Sakai and Ninomiya co-starred in TBS’s Sunday Drama “VIVANT,” and many viewers saw the casting as riding on the drama’s coattails. Ninomiya’s declaration of “cooperation” with Sakai on his own X account also became a talking point. On the 5ch (Geino/Sports News Flash+) thread, debate broke out over whether people who haven’t watched the drama are really being treated as “unpatriotic,” discomfort with the assumption that “everyone” is watching when ratings are only around 15%, and questions about NHK casting hosts to piggyback on another network’s hit drama.

The hosts for “The 77th NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen,” airing on New Year’s Eve, December 31, have been announced. Alongside NHK announcer Naoko Suzuki, the show will be hosted and livened up by Mana Ashida, Masato Sakai, and Kazunari Ninomiya. This “blatant” casting choice has drawn some cold reactions from viewers.

[“Ninomiya Kazunari will put everything into cooperating with Sakai Masato. (So Ashida Mana, thanks for having me! lol)”]

On October 9, Ninomiya posted this update on his own X account. It was presumably aimed at Sakai, with whom he’ll be “teaming up” as a Kōhaku host, but viewers who couldn’t make sense of it were left baffled.

Even before "Shukan Josei's" first report, back in December last year a VIVANT assistant director was reportedly shoved by Director Fukuzawa, fell off a stepladder, and fractured his radius and elbow while also cracking a rib — a month to fully heal. TBS's response was reportedly a one-day suspension for Fukuzawa.

Guys like Sakai and Oizumi are probably the last decent line of actors left.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

“VIVANT” aired in TBS’s Sunday Drama slot and has an upcoming theatrical release. There’s a yearly custom of picking Kōhaku hosts from among that year’s buzziest performers, and the casting of Sakai and Ninomiya is widely seen as an extension of that. What split the thread was whether people who hadn’t watched the drama were truly being treated as “unpatriotic” — some reacted to the headline’s exaggeration at face value, while others voiced discomfort with the piggyback casting itself. Kōhaku’s ratings have hovered around 15% in recent years, which led some to question the very premise that “everyone” is watching. Note that the misconduct allegations against production staff mentioned in the thread were a separate matter already reported by weekly magazines, unrelated to the Kōhaku hosting decision itself.

*This article is excerpted and summarized from the 5ch (Geino/Sports News Flash+) thread “‘It kills the mood,’ ‘Not watching VIVANT gets you treated as unpatriotic’ — Sakai Masato and Ninomiya Kazunari tapped as Kōhaku hosts riding VIVANT’s wave, while the ‘haven’t watched the drama’ crowd looks on coldly [Ailuropoda melanoleuca★].”

  • Comdot’s Yamato Slams Bookstore ‘Collusion’ Structure — Internet Split

On October 6, Yamato of Comdot (4.3 million subscribers) appeared as a guest on bookstore chain Yurindo’s official YouTube channel ‘A World Only Yurindo Knows’ (580,000 subscribers), sharing frank opinions about structural problems in the bookstore industry. Yamato criticized the power-based book distribution practice of “stacking a ton of books whenever someone from that publisher puts out a book by that person,” calling it an “old-guard structure” and “collusion.” After yutura.net reported on the remarks, a thread on 5ch’s Entertainment & Sports News+ board saw clashing reactions: some argued that prominently stocking popular authors’ books is simply sound business judgment, not collusion, while others agreed they’d want to avoid bookstores where such power dynamics are visible.

Re: #78 Manga is actually the harder one to read, if anything.
Light novels are easy to read… Syosetu ('Narou,' the web-novel site) piles on so many ads it gets stressful.
With manga you can't read whispered-dialogue bits without zooming in, and two-page spreads make me cringe.
Honestly I just check the book in-store and then buy the e-book anyway.
    90AnonymousOct 9, 2026 16:37
    Re: #78
Text is actually harder to read in manga, if anything.
Novels keep a consistent font size, but in manga the text can shrink way down depending on panel size and how much dialogue is crammed in.

Background and Key Points of This Debate

Most books on bookstore shelves arrive through a system where distributors ship large batches from publishers, and it’s the on-the-ground bookstore staff who pick out the titles likely to sell and put them on face-out display. Many commenters in the thread pushed back against calling this “collusion” because prioritizing popular authors or major publishers is a rational call based on sales track records, with some element of individual discretion involved. At the same time, Yamato’s point — that business relationships may be shaping what gets stocked — does overlap with a distribution-bias issue the industry itself has flagged before. Later in the thread, the discussion drifted from the main topic into the broader hard realities facing publishing and bookselling, touching on how small independent bookstores survive, café-bookstore hybrids, and the differing readability of e-books versus print. Readers should note that judgments of Yamato personally and judgments of the industry’s structure itself are getting tangled together here.

*This article is composed as an excerpt and summary of the 5ch (Entertainment & Sports News+) thread “Book-loving Comdot’s Yamato criticizes bookstore industry’s ‘old-guard structure’: ‘Collusion, like stacking tons of books whenever that publisher’s author puts one out’.”

  • Nijigasaki ‘Final Chapter’ Announcement Event Set for October 16 — 5ch Reacts: ‘Well, That’s It Then’

During a livestream for “Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club,” it was announced that a presentation event revealing the latest information on the “Eigasaki Final Chapter” movie (a pun blending “eiga,” meaning “movie,” with “Nijigasaki”) will be held on October 16. The event will feature Hinaki Yano, Miyu Kubota, and Akina Houmoto. Thread posters, who had been bracing for a big announcement, voiced relief that the mysterious “important news” turned out to be movie-related — but since the word “final” wasn’t used, opinions split over whether this signals the series continuing or winding down. The discussion further escalated into a back-and-forth between Nijigasaki fans and Liella!/School Idol Festival fans arguing over which side gets more support, with the thread stuck in an unresolved argument right to the end.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

“Nijigasaki High School Idol Club” is one entry in the Love Live! franchise, sitting alongside “Hasunosora Girls’ School Idol Club” and the game “School Idol Festival” (referred to in the thread by the nickname “Stars”). The thread’s disagreement centered on the fact that, despite being called the “Final Chapter,” the announcement didn’t take the form of a final-performance event — some read that as a sign the series is continuing, others as just a stopping point. Commenters cited specific figures like box office revenue and queue wait times, but it’s worth noting these all came from individual 5ch posters rather than any official source. The rivalry between the series appears to be an extension of a long-running fan concern over how opportunities get allocated across the different titles within the shared Love Live! franchise.

Background and Key Points of This Discussion

Stroke isn’t a disease limited to people with narrow blood vessels or the elderly — there are reported cases of seemingly healthy people carrying small, asymptomatic strokes, and the personal accounts in the thread reflect that reality fairly closely. On the other hand, Instagram’s “community guidelines violation” warnings are issued by an automated system; it’s well known that posts quoting articles with copyright concerns or including links are prone to tripping the rules, while malicious illegal streaming and the like often go unaddressed — an inconsistency in enforcement that users frequently point out, and today’s reaction is an extension of that frustration. The comment in the thread about being able to “get same-day surgery” appears to refer to catheter-based treatment, and since not every stroke qualifies for that, it’s a point readers could easily misunderstand.

In another video, Posobiec asked Hegseth what death row inmate Hasan's last wish was.

Hegseth replied, "Who cares. See you on December 3rd." December 3rd is Hasan's scheduled execution date.

As a rule, punishment can only be carried out under the law of the state where the crime happened,
so you can't transfer a prisoner from a state without the death penalty to one that has it just to execute them.
That said, for federal crimes, if a federal court hands down a death sentence, it does happen — but even then it's not about moving someone from a non-death-penalty state to one that has it; it's carried out under federal law at a federal facility that has capital punishment from the start.

We're hurtling down the road to depravity.
The day we become nothing but beasts that happen to speak human language isn't far off.

Background and key points of this story

The US military has not carried out an execution in 64 years — not since 1961, when death row inmate John Bennett was hanged for rape and attempted murder. Hasan, the former Army major now scheduled for execution, opened fire at a medical facility on base in 2009 while awaiting deployment to Afghanistan, killing 13 people and wounding 31; he later said it was revenge for US military action in the Islamic world. Because the case involves a member of the military, it was tried by court-martial rather than an ordinary state criminal court, and as several legally-informed posts in the thread explained, this brings in procedures different from the usual death penalty system — such as the question of transferring a prisoner across state lines to a facility with capital punishment. There were also voices questioning whether the announcement’s phrase “so that people can watch” meant a limited stream for victims’ families and other relevant parties, or a full public broadcast — this was left unclear. As of this report, the details of the stream’s scope have not been disclosed.

The article notes the pair have a 17-centimeter height difference. On 5ch, posters pointed out that Ryota divorced “Avril’s sister” last year, while discussion also spread to Saeko’s dating history, ONE OK ROCK’s current popularity, and even comparisons between the Japanese and Korean music scenes.

Saeko & ONE OK ROCK’s Ryota Caught Holding Hands ♡♡ on Korea Trip! [SCOOP!]

The way she gazed up at him — with their 17-centimeter height difference between them — said more about their relationship than words ever could.

It was a Saturday in early October, with the first gentle autumn sunshine in a while. The international departures lobby at Haneda Airport (Ota Ward, Tokyo) was crowded from the morning with Japanese tour groups and foreign tourists alike.

Isn't that just her going back to visit family?

Background and Key Points of the Discussion

Ryota has previously been reported dating and marrying partners from overseas, and his divorce from “Avril’s sister” mentioned in the thread reportedly happened last year. Saeko is also well known for her marriage to and divorce from a former pro baseball player, putting her in a position where her relationships easily become news. Opinions in the thread split over how to view the relationship itself, with some joking about the age and height gap and others not seeing any particular problem with it. The discussion also drifted off-topic into comparing how far ONE OK ROCK and Korean-origin bands have gotten overseas, though no concrete figures on audience numbers or sales were offered to back this up, so it remains largely a matter of impression. Note that some posts contained unsubstantiated claims, discriminatory language, and references to unconfirmed individuals, none of which have been reflected in this article.

  • “Music Station” Taps Announcer Kurumi Tani as New Sub-MC — 5ch Stunned by Age Gap with Tamori

TV Asahi announced that Kurumi Tani (23), an announcer who joined the company this past April, will become the 8th sub-MC of its music program “Music Station,” starting from October 16. Tani reportedly said she had watched the show since childhood and had wanted to be involved with it even before joining the company. On 5ch threads, there was a flurry of comments pointing out the age gap with 81-year-old Tamori, as well as the show’s structure in which the main host never changes while only the sub-MC is periodically replaced; the fact that Tani was known for hosting the weather segment on a local Kansai program also became a topic of discussion.

“Music Station” 8th sub-MC — Announcer Kurumi Tani, who joined this past April, takes the role; appearances begin on the 16th

Kurumi Tani (23), an announcer who joined TV Asahi this April, will become the 8th sub-MC of the network’s music program “Music Station” (Fridays, 9:00 PM).

She begins appearing on the 16th. Tani has said the show was one she loved since childhood, and that she wanted to be involved with it from the moment she joined the company.

Background and Key Points of This Topic

Music Station is a long-running show where host changes are rare — the main host, Tamori, has stayed essentially fixed since the program began, while Tani is now the 8th sub-MC, a role that has rotated through female announcers every few years. Many younger viewers reportedly didn’t know the show’s original hosts were Hiroshi Sekiguchi and Rie Nakahara, and plenty of comments dug into the show’s history. The thread split between those who saw the sub-MC-only rotation simply as a natural generational handover, and those who took issue with the fact that only the woman is expected to keep getting refreshed with a younger face; the fact that Tani herself had a background doing the weather segment on a Kansai local show — something not widely known within the thread — was part of what fueled the reaction.

Talent Minami Yasui (22), a former Miss Japan contestant, reported on X on the night of the 8th that she had been secretly filmed on a train. While riding the Saikyo Line, a man sitting across from her had been covertly photographing her without her knowledge; a male and female office worker sitting nearby noticed, confronted him, made him delete the images, and then took him to the station staff office. At the same time, many comments questioned the credibility of the post or remarked on Yasui’s appearance.

    According to that…

If simply secretly photographing a stranger's face — without it being a "sexual body posture" — counts as a crime, then the media would be committing crimes every time they film street scenes.

    Re: #71
Lol, sympathizing with the creepy trash voyeur.

Background and Key Points of the Debate

The law at the center of this incident, the “Act on Punishment of Photographing Sexual Body Postures, etc.” (the Voyeuristic Photography Act), is a relatively new law that took effect on July 13, 2023. It penalizes photographing sexual body postures and similar acts, meaning that simply photographing someone who is fully clothed doesn’t automatically make it a violation. A citizen’s arrest also requires clear legal grounds, and for a first offense, even police intervention doesn’t always lead to an arrest. On 5ch, many comments pointed out issues with the propriety of the procedure and the scope of the law’s application, while plenty of others dismissed the story outright as a fabrication (“usomatsu,” meaning a baseless made-up post) with no real basis. Reports like this from celebrities tend to draw this kind of suspicion, but whether the post’s content is actually true can’t be judged from 5ch reactions alone.

Appearing on a Nippon Broadcasting radio show, TV personality Akane Osawa reportedly named comedian “Farewell Comedian” Shin’ichi — who was sitting right next to her as a guest — as “the comedian most hated among female talent.” Since she raised rumors about Shin’ichi’s “scumbag” persona directly to his face, reactions on 5ch split between those who felt it was fair game as a joke since he was right there, those who argued the person saying it was the real problem, and others noting that Shin’ichi is actually well-regarded and serious-minded on set.

This board should just rename itself 'Kotatsu Article Breaking News' (i.e., lazy, armchair-written news aggregation).

Classic: she only says this kind of thing about people who can actually take it.
    35AnonymousOct 9, 2026 09:24
Didn't Ano-chan get into trouble for naming someone like this before?
    36AnonymousOct 9, 2026 09:24
Save this garbage talk for YouTube. Is this really something for TV?
    37AnonymousOct 9, 2026 09:24
I heard Shin'ichi's genuinely a good guy though.
    44AnonymousOct 9, 2026 09:26
Wasn't there already a consensus that we should stop doing this kind of thing?
    47AnonymousOct 9, 2026 09:27
If someone's actually hated, they'd retaliate, so you couldn't even say it out loud.
    49AnonymousOct 9, 2026 09:28
What does anyone even get out of this conversation? Akane Osawa comes off badly, and it's not even funny for Shin'ichi.
    50AnonymousOct 9, 2026 09:28
Aren't like 80-90% of comedians genuinely scumbags anyway?
    57AnonymousOct 9, 2026 09:30
Speaking of which, what ever happened with that Sarina Suzuki and Ano-chan controversy?
    63AnonymousOct 9, 2026 09:33
    Re: #57
    Ano pretty much disappeared, huh.
    77AnonymousOct 9, 2026 09:38
    Re: #57
Ano became known as the 'troublemaker' type, Suzuki's 'biting back' persona really took off, and in the end things settled into a decent place for both.

What does a 'Farewell Comedian' actually do? Why's he called that? Guess it doesn't matter since I don't even know his face.

Got time to kill, posting stuff that doesn't even matter? lol

Background and Key Points of This Topic

“Farewell Comedian” Shin’ichi built his name on a “scumbag” persona, yet fellow comedians often describe him as a polite, straight-laced type — and that very gap is part of what makes him work as a character. The remark in question was made on the radio with him sitting right there, and commenters repeatedly pointed out that it was likely a pre-arranged bit done with his consent. At the same time, the same words said publicly without him present could easily cross into outright insult, highlighting how fine that line can be. Opinions in the thread split over whether this counts as a joke that only works because he was present, or whether it reflects poorly on the person making it regardless — and notably, the claim that he’s actually “hated by female talent” was never itself verified within the article.

※This article is adapted and summarized from a 5ch (Entertainment & Sports Breaking News+) thread titled “[Entertainment] Akane Osawa: “He’s seriously hated throughout showbiz” — names the comedian, “Ranked No. 1 among female talent”“.
