A thread titled “Lost ¥10,000 on a hanemono machine (a wing/tulip-type pachinko machine)” popped up on News VIP, one of 5ch’s biggest meme-heavy boards. The poster vented using the crying emoticon “(´;ω;`),” but other users fired back with a blunt “You should’ve stopped at ¥500,” along with suggestions to take up hobbies like fishing or cooking instead.
The thread veered off into chatter about lifetime gambling win/loss totals and the upkeep costs of mopeds, taking on a life of its own.
(´;ω;`) I can't take this anymore… someone help me…
Wait, hanemono machines are still even a thing?
>>4
(´;ω;`) Yeah, there's still plenty around… I always play at a parlor whose machines run well, but today it felt like they'd been retuned — nothing was hitting at all.

Whoa, really
Back in the day there was an old "one-shot" type machine called 'Missile' — that one was actually fun.

(´;ω;`) Honestly, dumping ¥10,000 into a hanemono machine in the first place is already a sickness… I really hate myself for it.

What about this year so far? And how much have you sunk into pachinko all-time?

Turn your catch into dinner or drinking snacks and save money too.

They say a fool's wallet is small but the drawstring's loose.
Any money you manage to get your hands on gets snatched right back up, sucker.
Guys who keep going back to pachinko are society's fertilizer till the day they die.
We'll all have a good time spending the cash we squeeze out of suckers like you!

If anything, having a car in central Kyoto seems more inconvenient.
The streets are narrow and the main roads are always jammed.

Mopeds basically cost nothing to maintain, right?
I'd actually recommend a "gen-ni" (a 125–250cc light motorcycle, one class up from a standard 50cc moped).
Gas, taxes, and compulsory insurance are all so cheap it's basically free, and there's no vehicle inspection.
For optional insurance, you can just add a cheap rider onto your parents' car policy.
Works even if you live separately, as long as you're unmarried!

(´;ω;`) Honestly I'll walk like 10km just to reach a pachinko parlor further away that has better odds.

Well, I don't have anything else to do and I'm bored out of my mind.
But I guess it's better than being cooped up at home playing video games.

If you start with ¥1,000 on a hanemono and build it up to ¥4,000 worth of balls (two boxes of 800),
then take that ¥3,000 and go play a one-shot machine with it.
That's the way to actually enjoy this hobby.

Just don't make the same mistake again, okay?
Going home even just ¥1,000 ahead keeps you playing thin and long instead of crashing and burning.
